sueoco 509 Posted October 15, 2012 Thanks ladies - what a thrill for you Shell! I am getting the same surprises when I try clothes - unfortunately I don't have a daughter I can borrow clothes from! My 14 year old son just doesn't have anything that appeals!! It is getting a bit expensive having to replace all my clothes - including bras and knickers! 2 Aussiegirl and *Shell* reacted to this
susie77453 32 Posted October 15, 2012 Haven't been on for a while, have had an incredibly busy and stressful few weeks. Just came home from my 5 and a half week post op appointment. My magic number is 20 kegs so far. Doc is very pleased with how everything is going and assures me ill be a whole new person before I know it! Hope you're all doing well. Everyone's pics are looking amazing! Good luck to all of you heading in for surgery! I'm sure you don't need to be told but its the best thing you'll ever do - if you're anything like me! I wish I had done this years ago! 2 Aussiegirl and *Shell* reacted to this

puppyphat 397 Posted October 15, 2012 Trust me Scott, after the hunger pains and headaches of day 3, you just stop being hungry. Just get through the first 3 days without cheating and ketosis will kick in and the 2 weeks will be a breeze. If you cheat in the first couple of days it will just prolong your body's adjustment. Going to bed is a great idea. Stay strong. Only 13 days to go. 1 Scotty75 reacted to this
puppyphat 397 Posted October 15, 2012 Oh, and I cheated on the 2 week Optifast, but when I did, it was with an optifast bar. The berry one and the chocolate ones are great. That meant that some days I was having 2 shakes, a Soup and a bar but I figured that was safer than a mars bar. I only had to do it once or twice in the 2 weeks, but the dietician said it was ok. 1 Scotty75 reacted to this

*Shell* 162 Posted October 15, 2012 Trust me Scotty, Puppyphat is so right, get through the first 3-4 days and you'll have no problems. I had terrible headaches, bad breath and just starving but you will find this will be the worst of the whole op!! Week 2 should be no issues and b4 you know it you will be going us on the losers bench . and by Xmas you will be feeling great Best if luck 1 Scotty75 reacted to this

Are you allowed to have veges and berries? I was and diet jelly and sugar free lollies also helped. On Optifast blending with frozen berries or a shot of espresso coffee is yummy. Enjoy the journey. 1 Scotty75 reacted to this
sueoco 509 Posted October 15, 2012 Hi Scotty - just keep thinking of your goal at the end of this stage. Each stage has it challenges but I must agree with Shell that I found the pre op diet the hardest. My surgeon wanted me to do it for 3 weeks and actually it turned out to be one day short of 4 weeks when I had my op! After you have the op you will never experience hunger like you did pre op. I can't say I don't get hungry but it is nothing like it was pre having the sleeve - and it is so easily satisfied. Anyway - all the best over the next 2 weeks, just get through one day at a time and cross those days off the calendar! 1 Scotty75 reacted to this
puppyphat 397 Posted October 15, 2012 9 weeks out and just hit the 60s!!! 69.7kg on the scales this morning and am cheering. More than 20kgs lost since seeing the surgeon in July. I'm not a fast loser, but I'm happy. I love grabbing size 12s off the rack knowing they'll fit, and seeing that I could probably get away with some size 10 tops soon. I like tight jeans and tops because of the compression effect. Don't like the saggy skin. Healthy weight range is 64kg and I hope to be there by my next dr visit end of November. My goal is 60kg. I hope I can get there by Christmas. Will post pics once I get to healthy BMI. 4 aussie kelloff, *Shell*, Kayargh and 1 other reacted to this
Scotty75 68 Posted October 15, 2012 Thanks everyone, Im allowed as much salad and veges as I want of the list but when im at work I only get what i take or its chips and coke...lol. No i havent been near the chip machine, I am just trying to pace myself at work and get a good balance. This is day 2 and I had my blood tests for the op so going straight to bed early last night made it a bit easier with the fasting and not worrying about food. On another note Im starting to get a lot of questions why Im taking so much time off sick at work and have tried the hernia story but geez there nosey, they were also asking why I was on opti etc etc. Im not a good liar. Even my MIL was asking why I am having so much time of for a hernia and she asked my wife what sort of hernia it was ( I didnt know there was more than 1 lol) she is a nurse. Oh the joys.....I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and im heading towards that losers bench. Scotty

Lissa_S 787 Posted October 16, 2012 Hello fellow sleevers had another rough week last week but it was due to a reaction from the antibiotics nothing sinister. But the last three days have been pretty good and today hey retested to see if he leak has healed... And it looks like it has!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been on clear fluids for the past few days- the problems been the diaherrea post eating and vague nausea which is apparently due to not eating anything for so long. But that should settle over he coming weeks too. The plan now is for me to get off the TPN (IV nutrients ) and hopefully home by the start of next week. The last drain is coming out too! They have had me on 9300 kJ per day of nutrients but even so I have still managed to,loose 17 kg since the op six weeks ago. So I am pretty pleased with the world today no prolonged recovery, no gastric bypass- just normal stuff. I will no doubt be checking out with you guys over the coming weeks about " is it normal..." lol Anyway I am so pleased to have good news to share!
