Nessa' date=' I remember the wait to get under 100 was awful especially as I got so close. I found that after the initial few months of constant weight loss, my body would plane out every 10kgs of so, like a natural reset I guess. I stayed at like 101 for like 2 weeks and had begun to wonder whether I was ever meant to be under 100. It is frutsrating!!!

But as of yesterday when I had to get weighed to go indoor skydiving I weighed 77kgs, that is a loss of 73kgs...something even I have no concept of. This puts me in my goal BMW range of 27, high 27 but still there...while I am on vacation I am not trying really at all to loose or anything really just enjoy life and eating not so well..I will be back into it when I get back..I have body sculpting to do now.

All the best to everyone, I see the updates and you are doing great:)[/quote']

First of all I have to say what an amazing achievement! 73kg is a huge amount of weight and you have almost halved your body weight! I really admire you for the commitment you made and the determination it took to turn your life around! As I take this journey myself, I am really interested in the physiology behind it and I was just wondering if you now see yourself as a 'slim' person? Do you think people treat you differently? Can you judge your clothes size correctly when you select clothing to try on?

Sorry for so many questions!

Anyway, I hope you're having a great time and you deserve to enjoy life! - wish I was there doing all that factory shopping with you! It is hard to eat the right foods when you are on holiday - especially in the US so I wouldn't worry until you get back.

Off topic a little, but.... I ate too much!!! I've had 1 vomiting episode since surgery and I was hoping to avoid all future episodes. I feel so full and uncomfortable, can't stop burping. I haven't got the stabbing shoulder pain that I had last time, but still fell very stuffed. I don't want to drink anything, has anybody got some quick fixes, other than bringing all that Protein up. And FYI, I got this full by eating my dinner while watching Jamie Oliver and eating WAY too fast. I only ate 1 chicken wing and 2 pieces of broccoli.

Sorry, I haven't found a quick fix. Just have to wait for it to pass and not add anything to the mix. The quantity of what you ate doesn't sound too much, so maybe it was the haste with which you ate it!! I can totally relate. I've had two episodes of vomiting after eating too much or too quickly and I also want to avoid doing this again at all costs. Deep breathing may help...

To all the newbies or those recently sleeved, if you're looking forward to a meal (not hungry, just can't wait to enjoy it) do not eat it watching Jamie Oliver or Huey or cake boss. The rules of eating slowly go out the window and what was that about chewing? Learn from my mistakes. I should have watched Brynne. That shows so boring it would have given me no option but to focus on taking small bites and chewing very very well.

Puppyphat, I have been lucky enough not to vomit as yet (touch wood) I hae however had moments where I have over done it by either eating too fast or too much. I feel so aweful I have to have a lay down to ease the feeling of wanting to vomit. At first I didn't want to do this because I thought it would make the food come up, but I found if I lay on my side and close my eyes and concentrate on my breathing I can get through it. I too am watching Jamie Oliver....how good was the first meal! Yum!! (sorry, please don't vomit!)

I always get a giggle out of this thread! I would like to add Dr Phil to that list of programmes not to watch! Not so long ago I thought I was so bloody clever because I hadn't been sick and whoops - twice in the last 3 weeks! Both from eating way too fast because I was watching TV and not concentrating on eating ie MINDLESS eating - yes old habits do die hard!!

Thanks Sue and Kelli ;)

It has definitely has taken alot of determination and committment.

They are good questions and my answers are changing as time progesses.

Do i see myself slim...not really. I still see the same shape and when I am naked I see all the skin that i think stops me from really feeling thin. Tho when i have clothes on I am often shocked by the person i see in the mirror...eventually i hope to also see myself think naked as well.

Can i judge clothes correctly...not even remotely, I am not sure whether this is just cause sizes vary from one brand to another or I just have no concept. I have been buying some things lately without tryingthem on and they have all fitted nicely so maybe i am not doing so badly.

Do people treat me differently?

This is one that i have been dealing with thinking about lately. I have travelled alot over the years and almost always come home with new friends aroundthe world and never really had trouble meeting people when I weighed more, anything from 120-150kg. However now travelling, where i look good and cute I am having trouble meeting new people. I have discussed this with a good friend of mine, and he put it well, previously i was generally not attractive to me, so there was no question whether they were picking me up, so they would talk to me, to females I was no threatening, so they would talk to me, so i met new people alot easier.

I think yes, people treat me differently, some are more friendly, those who werent too interested in me before are nicer to me. Luckily my family and friends dont treat me any differently and have been nothing but supportive to me.

I also notice I run into less poeple, people used to walk into me all the time..now they dont :)

But I would also add I treat myself differently so that affects how people see me as well.

On the throwing up thing, it can still happen, even at a year out. I had an episode yesterday while driving which was not present...not sure how this one even happened, usually i can pin it down to eatting too much or drinking while eatting or too soon after eatting but that was not the case. Other than breathing through it i have no help..sorry...it is just anaffect of our stomachs.

Thanks so much Aussiegirl - wow that is so interesting re actually being harder to meet people - you would naturally assume the opposite! I think your friend has hit the nail on the head and to think that people would not even be aware of how they react to you! I am in a slightly different situation as I am 50 so don't have youth on my side to be threatening or assumed to be on the pick up! - and I'm married too - oops nearly forgot about that! The one thing I do notice is that I am no longer invisible in shops like Esprit anymore - I get asked a lot sooner if I need help. Like you, my friends treat me the same - I feel I might be talking about my weight loss a bit too much and getting on their nerves so will have to be sensitive to that - a few of my friends are struggling to lose significant amounts of weight through diet and exercise and I feel their pain as it is slow going - so so glad that I have my not so secret weapon!

I know what you mean about seeing yourself with all the lumps and bumps! I still pick fault with my body even though I actually can fit into size 12 Esprit jeans - can't quite believe that! I am still bigger on top and still carrying some weight/loose skin around my middle so seem to focus on that - still have a couple of visits up my sleeve (no pun intended!) with the psychologist so looking forward to putting that one to her! Just goes to show how deep our body image R

runs. But I must say overall I am really really happy!

I too am having trouble adjusting my minds eye to the size I am - tried on some Levi's (haven't been able to buy Levi's for years!!!). I picked size 34 - ended up getting into 30 inch - I was amazed!

Oh Puppyphat, I am in your shoes tonight. I feel aweful, ate too much too quickly and am now lying down in bed teetering on the edge of vomiting. I don't think I will vomit....but it's damn close :-/

I went to see the surgeon for my 4 week check up. Weighed in at 118- weighed in at 120 at home- asked to have his scales as they are much kinder!! So a loss of 16 kilos since I started pre op 6 weeks ago. He was very impressed and very happy with the healing. Im sure he would be shaking his head if he could see me in agony right now!!

Aussiegirl thanks for your perspective and experiences. Interesting to read. At the moment I can make friends very easily and talk to anyone- I wonder if I will experience the same things as you? Like sue I imagined it would have been the other way around. I hear you on body image problems....I have already started researching the cost of reconstructive surgery and private health to bring down the cost. I can see skin heading south already!

I had my first session in the gym today and it felt good to exercise 20kgs lighter than before. Losing weight has certainly taken pressure off my joints, but my fitness level is down as I haven't done much exercise in the past few months. I know I should have been, but I've felt the need to just focus on the food side of things for a while. I've felt a bit guilty about it, but am now back on track and hoping to firm up the flabby bits.

Hi all, thought i would drop in and say hi.

Ive been thinking (worrying) bout the loose skin bizzo and was wondering if anyone has tried the compression clothes to help hold it all in while your losing weight?? I know liposuction people (lol) have to wear compression garments to help with the loose skin, anyhoo im gunna give it a go with the haemoroid cream and see if it helps. I am prepared to be a guniea pig :)

Lila your getting through this day by day hopefully soon it will be a distant memory.

ok chat soon

Scotty

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
