Susie, the other thing you need to factor into this recovery period is that it can take some time before the effects of the anaesthetic get out of your system, so please don't be too hard on yourself. I suggest you try to rest as much as you can around your heavy work schedule and keep up your fluids because these help flush out the residual anaesthetic toxins.

Most importantly, be kind to yourself, sounds like you are doing a great job.

Keep up the good work. Regards one_elle

I've actually been thinking about her a lot lately and it is worrying. I hope it is 'no news is good news' - she last dropped in on the 20/9.

Should one of us phone the hospital and ask after her? Just concerned re privacy. Otherwise we just wait until she is ready to contact us again?

I think getting a pic and putting side by side like you said. In sure you will be quite surprised how much change you will see with 26kgs. That is great achievement and you need to know big changes are ahead of you and for all of us.

I did that with my pic and my family nearly fell over when they saw it side by side.

I love hearing everyone's progress.

Sueoco - when was your op and how much have you lost if you don't mind me asking...it looks as though you would be very close to goal, so great.

I'm aiming for another 15 by Xmas and then on the home run for the last 15 by mid next year. Would love for it all to be done by July (1 yr anniversary)

Wow Shell you've done so well! I'm on the Optifast at the moment, how did everyone go sticking with it? I've been super strict so far but so tempted to break it this wknd! Shell you're a great inspiration to me as I'm also quite tall 5'9 and weighing in at 123kg - well 118kg now according to the scales this morning which is awesome! Surgery is booked for Monday 15/10/12 and I'm super nervous but excited! My biggest worry is this restricted ability to drink Water quickly, I'm so used to being able to just drink!

By the way not sure Ill ever want an Optifast again after this two weeks... Going to stick to tony ferguson shakes, up&gos, sustagen, etc - has anyone found that shakes are a good way to make sure u get Protein and Vitamins post surgery??

Hey Bella,

Since my preop diet I haven't touched a shake. I have done them for years, this is one of the reasons for the sleeve, don't have use shakes to diet with.

I was on full food from 4 weeks out and I now get all my Protein from my food.

I did use sustagen, up and go during the first 4 weeks but I only have them every now and again now.

I know how you girls feel I am 5"11. I now weigh 127kg. Lost 28kgs since July 23rd.

Good luck Bella.

Hasn't someone already tried to ring and the hospital won't give any info.

Didn't someone say- I think it was Julie- that her name isn't Lila, it's something else? If you know her name, can you call up and say that you want to visit her and what ward is she on? Or the number for the phone next to her bed? I am hoping that she is just concentrating on getting well. Maybe she isn't in the frame of mind to read all the success stories on here when she is doing it tough...I know I would definitely have moments like that if I was in a similar situation.

I tried to call but did not know her real name at that time. One of the ladies who was sleeved the same day does know her name and called the hospital who said she was still there.

Hi Bella my dietician advised me not to use shakes after surgery as they are too low in Protein and better to get nutrition from variety of foods. Each to their own. I know some on this site do use shakes post op, but I don't myself.

Oh that's right, I would love to go and visit her. We do have her name but until she says she wants visitors I don't want to pry.

If you are reading these Lila, hope you well, we are thinking of you. Keep positive. xxoo

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
