kelliv 659 Posted September 8, 2012 Just tried to eat a diet vanilla berry jelly which I used to LOVE! It was so sickeningly sweet I only got down 2 bites! How does that happen?! Like how can stomach surgery change how I taste food?? So crazy! Are you allowed jelly this early when you are still on fluids? I wasn't allowed that until puree stage. Varies from person to person. I have been able to have yoghurt, but haven't really tried other sweets. I have always preferred savory so it wouldn't bother me too much. kelliv 659 Posted September 8, 2012 If the surgeon is the same as mine' date=' I didn't have a leak test. I didn't even have to prove that I could keep fluids down. I had the drip taken out on the 5th day, had a couple of sips of Water and went home. I think the long hospital stay will work to Scotty's advantage if he does have to travel immediately home.[/quote'] Some doctors do a leak test during surgery and not one afterwards. Mine did both. I was glad for third night in hospital, but was ready to get drain out and go home on day 4. Sent from my iPad using VST
puppyphat 397 Posted September 8, 2012 What was the drain for? Again, didn't have one, was anything coming out of it. I'm a vet nurse and we put drains in abscesses to let all the pus drain out. I really hope yours wasn't like that. They are gross.

Doc said it helps reduce swelling and gets rid of excess Fluid. Gross but I felt great by the time I left hospital. Sent from my iPad using VST

puppyphat 397 Posted September 8, 2012 Eeewww. Lol. I did ask. I'm always amazed at the varying techniques used by surgeons, even in aus. How many stab wounds did you have? I had 5 with the biggest and most painful on my right side, between the top of my undies and bottom of my bra, if that makes sense.

puppyphat 397 Posted September 8, 2012 That's ok. I posted pics of my removed stomach after the surgeon inflated it. I'm sure that grossed a lot of people out, but I thought it was cool

Not that I'm enjoying it anymore :/ I've got a lovely supportive family and they cooked and strained a beautiful chicken Soup for me so I'm alternating between that, Optifast, watered down Ribena, milked down yogurt and Water. It's only day one of it but I feel pretty good! It's totally bizarre not being hungry! Oh good! So glad to get an update on Lila! I hope she's doing ok and that the complications aren't too serious!
