15kgs! That's great! It's good hearing positive feedback to such a huge lifestyle change. I'm such a guts (really!) that I wonder how well I will cope mentally

I wondered same thing but I just can't get more than half a cup down at any one meal, so problem solved.

Kelliv and shellz look great! You should see in person how tiny they eat! I scored all of kelli's leftover Soup and focaccia toast!!! Bonza! Lol :D

Now for the next meet up :) I'm still thinking I'll bring my own, maybe pickup some sushi or sandwiches somewhere so no-one post-op is wasting money on num nums they can't finish :) soooo cited to see everyone again :)

I haven't been on here for awhile so I guess it is time for an update. I was sleeved at the end of May with Dr Justin Greenslade. He is not a touchy feely kind of guy but I like him and he has an excellent reputation. My surgery went very well and I got to go home a day early which was great. My recovery had a few ups and downs, felt really depressed at 3 weeks post op, I still take Nexium every day because I have a very sensitive stomach. I'm lactose intolerant so now I have Zymil. I have tried and failed to eat junk food like Maccas and it just makes me so sick I vomit. I crave good food and find that if I stick to unprocessed food, salads etc that I am fine. There is a lot of trial and error with the new stomach and my surgeon did tell me this. Oh, and I can't eat anything fried either or chocolate, icecream etc. Good I suppose really but it means I am a little inflexible with my diet these days because I hate the vomiting.

Overall, I think this is the best thing I've done about my weight. I'm have started a new job a month ago, about to join the gym near work and generally feeling the best and happiest I have in years!

No - he's not! He's very dry. But I think I got a smile during the consult :) I liked him - he's very direct without being condescending. It's reassuring that you felt he was professional.

No chocolate??? Whoa that's tough :P

Thanks for the support guys. Somehow made it through yum cha without eating anything. I guess I was just sad to be missing out. It's so silly but after I left I started crying and really wondering if I could give up food. I love cooking and different foods and was questioning my decision. I guess it just pointed out how unhealthy my relationship with food was..

Hoping to be one of the success stories I see on this forum that don't have complications and can still enjoy lots of foods just with smaller amounts, but still feeling pretty negative and that it will all go wrong for me..

3 sleeps to go! Hopefully I'm out of my funk by then :(

Poor sues, and you've been sick too- good luck and can't wait to hear from you on the other side...

Oh and I had that same feeling a couple of days ago like I would "fail" even with my sleeve... It's your little sabotage demon trying to keep raging and eating what he wants forever- be strong! You can do it!

Actually, the last time I weighed myself I had lost 15kg(about a month ago). So the answer to that would be I don't really know because I don't own scales but I am fitting into my old size 16 work pants. I have a big bag in my room and as things no longer fit me I put them in the bag. I am so looking forward to going shopping in a few month's time because I'm working through my old clothes and pretty soon I'll have to start again. Yay!!

Nice pic Kelli :)

Thanks Shelley. I also have a pile of 'baggy' clothes which I am adding to almost every day. In Melbourne for a few days and tried on a pair of 16 jeans and they fit! Didn't buy them as a long way to go yet but felt good.

Started on slightly thicker 'soft' foods today. Had 1/4 cup of scrambled egg with smoked salmon for Breakfast and one salmon fish cake for lunch and the same for dinner with tatziki. Didn't get much in but so glad to be off the purée. (2 days early but couldn't wait any longer)

I remember my first scrambled egg and salmon. Was so nice after fluids and purée food.

Size 16 is great. Can't wait until I'm there :). I started as size 24, now in 20 so going down and best thing I have ever done.

Have a great time in Melbourne with your sister and niece. How was her reaction when she seen you and your 15 kgs down.

Wow ladies the sizes are falling off you. I wasn't really sure what size I was, due to being in 26 but all of the 26's being different, I am now in the skinny 26's. If that makes sense.

I already have a bag of clothes that are just too big also. Can't wait to fit into my skinny clothes. I have sizes all the way down to 16/18.

Just wanted to let you all know, I had a glass of wine last night, was soooo good. Took me ages to drink it but I really enjoyed it. Usually would have done the whole bottle in the same time I drunk one glass.

Has anyone tried alcohol after surgery?

Thanks Shell, how did the soda go? I was a big vodka, lime and soda drinker before but wasn't sure how the soda would go?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
