Hi Everyone. My sister and I are getting sleeved together next week. Nerves are starting to set in. Any advice for someone less than a week pre-op??

Hi vonnie, that's great you and your sister are on this journey together. I would love my sister to take the step and join me on this whole new lifestyle. Best of luck to you both :)

BEST OF LUCK FOR TOMORROW. my thoughts will be with you. I am 5 weeks out tomorrow and am really happy with my progress and decision to do this, just wish I did it earlier. I did mine alone as my husband and 4 kids were overseas for two weeks but it worked well. Thank god for 19 year old sons hey :). You will be fine and time will fly by.

Shelley xx

Thanks Shellz.

It's been great having someone there who is experiencing the exact same thing every step of the way. I don't think either of us would have made it this far alone. My sisters mean the world to me (I have 3 older sisters) and i'd do anything for them.

I am excited about the whole thing... But still very nervous.

This forum has been great. A big thank you to everyone for your insights and encouragement.

Best of luck for tomorrow! The sooner it's done the sooner you'll be losing weight and living your new life! I'm super jealous - I still have two weeks to wait :(

Let us know how you go! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
