I am having a miserable time of things tonight. I had to do a pizza run for my family (who volunteered to paint the church hall after work this week) which turned into ordering and collecting 7 pizza's for all the other workers. The ordering and smell were TORTURE. I know that they don't do it deliberately but man' date=' it was a killer. I was then supposed to take the leftovers home and I am like what the heck? I don't want it in my goddamn house! So I've left it in the car (which will now stink of pizza) and said I'll go out and drop it off when they get home.

So frustrating. My stomach hurts from being hungry. Sorry to be so whiney (I know that I am responsible for my weight) but OMG anyone who said this is an "easy" option has no freaking clue.

And I am just two days into the pre-op diet. Starting to have serious second -thoughts...[/quote']

Lila that sucks that you are having such a hard time. Are you eating Protein with your shakes? My nut said I could eat Protein with my shakes, to help with the hunger! I did for the first few days then didn't need it but might help you.

Lila it does get better. I too found it hard and even cheated once or twice in the first week but them was so down that I couldn't even stick to pro op and worried that dr would not be able to continue with op because I failed, so relieved when I woke from surgery and hearing that all went well, phew !!!

Anyway hang in there Lila, it will be worth it :). Not much longer to go now

I think part of the problem is my NUT took me off the shakes because of the side effects I was having. I am having 100g lean protein twice per day though but today there was an emergency at work and I was stuck on the ward until almost 4pm which meant all I had to eat all day was a boiled egg and an apple. That is probably a part of the problem :) I think I am just having a mini-meltdown lol

That is my exact concern!! Has anyone heard of that happening - them going in and not doing the op?

Is it worth talking to your NUT again to work out a specfic meal plan to help with the hunger? Then just be as organised as possible. It s definately worth it and t s tie to put yourself first at every opportunity. I am sorry, but having to do the pizza run was just cruel.

A question to all the post sleevers.

I am having a bad time with milky products. I was having yogurt and milk and just thought i was getting use to my sleeve but now being 4 weeks out, even a sip of milk just makes me feel sick.

Never had any problems with milk before the op. I am worried I will always have this problem and will then have to take Calcium meds and find alternate Protein. cheese is no problem

Thanks

After I had my daughter I couldn't tolerate milk. I could eat yellow cheese, not white cheeses like brie and camambert, and I could only eat yoghurt close to its use by date. This gave the good bacteria time to multiply and countered the effect of the lactose. I switched to lactose free milk like zymal and got over it after about a year. I've heard a lot of people have this same issue after the sleeve. I've heard that it resolves, just as mine did, for a lot of people. Good luck.

Thanks I will give her a call tomorrow I think. It all seems to have hit me tonight - feeling quite giddy atm and sick. Yech...I am going to go to sleep as I am sick of hearing myself whine lol. I will do as you suggest and become more proactive about it by calling the NUT :)

Thanks for your support! Hope you're going well now!

Hi Lila

I feel your pain! The pre-op diet is hell as you get so hungry. One product I found really good and fills you up are the Optifast chocolate bars. They have 20 grams of Protein and are very low gi so you don't feel hungry for quite a few hours. They take a bit of getting used to but really helped - you can also carry them in your hand bag so if you ever get caught with picking up pizzas or not able to have lunch you can eat on the run! They go down quite nicely with a cuppa!

I know that different surgeons have different pre-op diets - I was allowed to have any Meal Replacement - bars, shakes or Soup ( aprox 20 grms of protein)and salad, stir fried or steamed veges- no starchy veges or avodcado and 2 teaspoons of oil a day- you can use this for stir fried veges or for dressing on your salad.

My husband is type one diabetic and has just recently gone onto an insulin pump - he has been struggling with his weight and has been using the bars to replace two meals a day. The weight is slowly coming off for him so he is happy and happy that he is not hungry between meals.

I hope this helps - just keep telling yourself that there is an end to this stage and after your op you will never feel as hungry as you were before. Each stage has challenges and your are right - this not an easy option. I just keep thinking of how good I will feel in 6 months time.

Take care

I have had no problems with any food whatsoever so really happy about that, oh except my two small bites of a Dagwood dog at the Ekka otherwise my sleeve can handle anything. I have heard that many people can't tolerate milk. Hope it resolves itself

Hi all

Went off my Nexium meds day before yesterday but had terrible acid today. Luckily was at the clinic today so have got 2 more months prescription. I am really hoping that I am not going to be stuck with the acid stomach forever - I know some people are.

The good news is that I have progressed to normal food - game on! It is still difficult to eat but have been told it will be get better. I am just impatient waiting for it to get better! I had one cooked tuna sushi roll for lunch - I ate the tuna and avocado out of the middle and had one bite of the rice ( very small 5 cent size bite!) and I was full. I have found that the small amount of hunger I did have is also fading - which is great. So now the challenge is to get that 60 grams of Protein in a day, very small bites and chew chew chew! Can't wait until all of this is second nature and I don't have to concentrate so much!

Milk doesn't go down too good with me - I think it might be because of my acidy stomach - it leaves an awful taste at back of my throat but no sickness. I hope it goes away for you as time goes on - do you think it might be reacting with something that you have eaten prior to your yogurt or milk?

Confession: I am 8 days post op and cannot move from thin liquids to purees until Monday when I see the dr and the nut, but I put a piece of salmon fillet in my mouth and sucked all the flavour out, then spat it out and put the rest in the bin. I felt so bad, but I really really miss normal food!!!

Most of the time it's on an empty stomach that I have yogurt or milk (breakfast) I thought it was that but tonight I had dinner early and thought I might have a little yogurt fir dessert but was still the same feeling.

I have heard some people have this so I hope it does subside over time.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
