*Shell* 162 Posted August 18, 2012 I have just been watching some YouTube on WLS and the excess skin and then the reconstructive surgery. It is major major surgery but it is definitely something I will not hesitate to do if I am left with this which I am sure after 4 children my stomach will need some attention. I have checked my phi and it covers reconstructive surgery and been advised that anything with a Medicare item number will be covered. The last thing I would want is to be left with all this skin. I have joined a gym this week and will start on a program to help minimise the skin issue Interested to hear your thoughts on this?

Shelley, I am hoping not to have too much excess skin, so hopefully I won't need further surgery. Plan to exercise to help tone. If I did need it though I would do it, but you are right, it is majar surgery. I know a lady who lost 80kgs and had a lot of excess skin. She had multiple operations on various parts of her body over a coupe of years (tummy, thinghs, arms etc) and was happy with the results. Unfortunately she passed away last year from horrible ovarian cancer. So sad, but she looked fantastic!
Aussiegirl 580 Posted August 18, 2012 Shellz, it is definitely something that i am considering. I have worked out from the beginning and have tone is some areas of my body, but others there is seriously no hiding the excess skin. I am thinking of first an arm tuck thingy, cause my arms are soooo bad, muscle on top and a whole lot of saggy skin under (sorry bad visiual I know). However the rest of my body I will see how it goes, over the next year or so. I also dont want to have a Tummy Tuck until I am sure I am not going to have kids. But it all just seems more painful...not sure I could watch the videos...you are gamer than me.

unknown54678997 50 Posted August 18, 2012 Omg! That is just the saddest story Shelley, I am hoping not to have too much excess skin, so hopefully I won't need further surgery. unknown54678997 50 Posted August 18, 2012 I'm going to wait at least 2 yrs to see how it all pans out (apparently can take up to two years for skin to 're-mould' itself but yeah if I have too flabby arms or stomach, it is definitely something I would consider. My friend had it done. He went from 148kg-78kg and had a Tummy Tuck. Made a huge difference to appearance and self confidence. I have just been watching some YouTube on WLS and the excess skin and then the reconstructive surgery. *Shell* 162 Posted August 18, 2012 Yeah I heard that you have to wait like 2 years for skin to adjust after weight loss. I have a total of 50kgs to lose so just have to wait and see the outcome. Just came back from an hours walk so ready for my crusket, salmon and cottage cheese and aiming to get through a heap of Water today as I think I am dehydrated a little. Going to go and swim a few laps of the gym pool tomorrow so really looking forward to that It's great to see all the newcomers joining us on this great thread. I never even go on the other sites anymore as I get all the support and info from vst.

Nessa1977 155 Posted August 18, 2012 Yes...excess skin. My biggest dread. Things have been heading south for me for many years, so what I have is only going to get worse. I too am giving myself 2 years post reaching goal weight to see how I go. I know it's not going to snap back and mysteriously disappear (one can only wish). I'm already scoping out plastic surgeons in the area and researching costs etc on the internet.

puppyphat 397 Posted August 18, 2012 Hi, I'm new on here. Have been reading for a while but this is my 1st post. Here are my stats. June weight: 96kg Max weight: 105kg Surgery date 13/8/12 Height:162cm Weight today, 6 days after surgery and 2 weeks of Optifast pre-op: 83kg!!! Best decision I've ever made about my weight. I've been feeling so good the last couple of days. Finding it hard to get 1 whole Protein shake over a day, but am getting in my Water. Don't have much pain, or energy, am resting at the moment. I was in hospital for 4 nights, and was so happy. No drains or leak test. I haven't used any pain meds other than Panadol since Tuesday afternoon, and not even Panadol today. So excited to be skinny!!!!! 5 jules58, Aussiegirl, Scotty75 and 2 others reacted to this

Lissa_S 787 Posted August 18, 2012 Quick question regarding Early Release of Super..... How long did it take from submitting forms to getting the all good for surgery?? Thanks Scotty It was exactly 10 business days after I submitted the paperwork. I called on day 9 and they advised me they were processing it and to call back the next day. I did, and it was all approved Was actually easy - the waiting sucked though
