Shoulder Pain - Not Gas Pain

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was sleeved 4-24-12, and I had minimal gas pain - mostly in my rib cage.

A few times recently, when I go for a walk, or when I go from sitting to standing, etc. I have this horribel almost burning sensation in my shoulders/upper chest.

It's not heart burn or acid reflux.

Don't really know how to explain it.

Lasts for a few minutes max, but gets better.

Anyone have anything like this>?

Sounds like gas to me. Could also be gall bladder from what I've read from others. Never hurts to call your doc, though. Lord knows I was probably his most irritating patient - a badge I wear with pride!

I agree, probably gas pains. Call your doctor to double check just to be on the safe side.

I thought it wasn't gas pain also its like a sharp pain in my shoulders but it is gas try gas x. I noticed it more when ever I put pressure on myself with walking or trying to get up from a laying or standing position. It actually is gas although it doesnt feel like it.

Did you have a hietal hernia repair? I did and my surgeon told me that's what my shoulder pain is from.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
