Crystal Woods 193 Posted May 5, 2012 Hi. First I have to brag. I am officially 1/2 to my goal. My surgery was on 03/01/12 and I have lost 59 lbs. I have exactly 59 lbs to go. Now on to my problem. I have been to the hospital once already because I am very sick and dehydrated. I have strep, mono, and a UTI. I am very sick and it hurts to drink anything. I have tried all types of fluids both warm and cold. It hurts in my throat and then in my stomach. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really don't want to have to go back to the hospital for more IV fluids if I can help it.
NancyJerry 139 Posted May 5, 2012 Oh gosh, maybe ice chips? So sorry you are sick, praying for your speedy recovery!
PollyBlue 22 Posted May 6, 2012 The pharmacy will have some hydrolite ice blocks (I think you call them ice popsicles)....pop them in the freezer then suck away on the electrolytes. Not the tastiest thing in the world but you want to make sure you're getting those fluids.
topgun 63 Posted May 6, 2012 Better to get infused with fluids than let yourself get seriously dehydrated. Don't take chances... if you think you're dehydrated, ask for help. You'll be miserable if you don't and it can be life-threatening if left untreated.
