Hi everyone,

I need recommendations for post-op Vitamins (chewables and after two month vitamins). Is there a Vitamin you would recommend at Target or Sam's Club I could buy? My doctor recommends Bariactic Advantage and Bariactic fusion. What are you guys taken?

I bought the bariatric Vitamins and I cannot tolerate them. They're very chalky and makeme gag, that doesn't sound like such a big deal pre-op, but post op, I couldnt do it. I ended up going to target and getting the gummy vitamins. So for now I would highly recommending getting something over the counter at your local pharmacy.

I am using Centrum chewables (the ones with iron), I use fish oil which are large so for after surgery I bought two flavors of liquid fish oil that I can add to food I eat (lemon & pina colada), I bought a Bariatric Advantage b-complex which I have yet to receive in the mail so am not sure what that is like, I use the Bariatric Advantage Calcium chewables (my Dr. recommends calcium citrate not Calcium carbonate)...I think that's it.

I currently take glucosamine chondrotin or however it's spelled....for arthritis in my knee. I bought a mortar and pestle to crush them but then found they are available in liquid. Haven't worried about that one as it isn't as crucial although once I am cleared to work out, I will need to start it back up.

I was told that you could take two Flintstone chewables with Iron and you could be okay.

I take these and Citrical chewables. This is what my NUT told me to buy.

I use Centrum Silver (as I'm over 50) chewables 2 a day~ Citrus berry flavor They taste pretty good to me. I also use Citratcal Citrate + D in petite size 2 a day. Bariatric Iron chewy bites (Chocolate raspberry) those taste like a tootsie roll to me, so it's like candy once a day. And 2 times a week I use B-12 liquid sublingual. I started taking Biotin for Hair loss (as a precaution).

I'm over 50 too but my nutritionist told me to take the Centrum chewable regular because she said there were some findings that Iron could be low after bariatric surgery and that is one of the differences of the Silver....Centrum Silver has 0 iron. I assume that there would be periodic blood tests to make sure iron and other nutrients are at an acceptable level??? I haven't thought to ask that.

Hi there! How far out after surgery were you when you added Biotin to your daily regimen? Also, how much biotin do you take daily? Thanks!!

I splurged and got Celebrate Multivitamin Complete (for bariatric patients, has everything I needed + Biotin + iron) and Celebrate Calcium 500 Plus (1000mg calcium citrate in 2 chewable pills + Vitamin D as per PCP's request) So instead of taking pills for: multi, Iron, biotin, calcium, and vD, I only take 2 types (:

Oh, I forgot....I do take Biotin, started when I heard about Hair loss. Don't know how much science there is out there about whether it helps or not but figured it wouldn't hurt. I just grabbed a bottle from the local drugstore, it happened to be NatureMade brand, says 5000 mcg which on the back says 1667% Wow, must be one of those that you can't overdose on, at least I hope so. I don't think they will be a problem after surgery, they are tiny, smaller than an M&M, and smooth.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
