I shouldn't have done it! I am getting stir crazy so my mother drove me to Walmart this morning. I became so weak and lightheaded I had to find a bench!! This is 5 days post op for me. Is this normal???

In a word - "Yes!" I traveled for business one week after my surgery. I had to go through terminals, finding a place to sit and rest, all the way to baggage claim. That feeling stayed for a few weeks.

Expect a significant loss in energy for about the first 3 weeks after surgery. After that it improves dramatically.

hmmmmm

I have tickets to a baseball game at 3 weeks out.....will this work since it is mostly sitting.

We have Beach Boys tickets at about 4.5 weeks after my surgery. Does that sound feasible? Again, probably sitting most of the time.

Both should be fine. Baseball will be interesting because if you are like me, I used to like to eat at the game. That won't be as easy. As far as the concert, chances are there won't be a mosh pit for the Beach Boys  , so you should be good.

Not 100 percent but I've been doing minimum outings daily to help build strength. Have an event similar to the derby next week, which is just 2.5 weeks post-op and I'm planning of sitting most of the day!

It took me about a month to lose the weakness. I'm still suffering from fatigue but I'm more or less functional now.

I went to a baseball game last night, 4 days short of three weeks and it was fine. I brought cottage cheese and some yummy rice pudding while my skinny family gorged themselves on hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage and peppers and ice cream. And lots of beer and wine too!! I was perfectly content with my food . . . Content might be a little strong. I was ok with my non fun food but I kept telling myself that I've eaten enough fun food all my life and I'll have many more opportunities to eat like a human again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
