Wow! That sounds like a lot. I had 3T of re-fried Beans today and was in pain.

Jme53071, just to let you know, I had some Beans once and was in terrible pain, but it wasn't the amount that I ate. Beans give you gas, and that can be very painful in your new stomach. I intend to avoid beans in the future because of this.

At three weeks, I was just barely starting blenderized foods. I was still two weeks away from soft solids. It's kinda weird that he told you to eat what you can tolerate at this early stage, but every surgeon is a little different. meats are a little hard to handle so early. I'd say the softer the food the better. You want quality healing. You only get one shot at healing, so don't push it. My two cents. That and $4.50 will get you a cup of burnt tasting coffee at starbucks! LOL

That could be because thats a major gas producing food

As long as Sleevie isn't complaining, it's not too much. Be careful of the strawberries, though. They have tiny little seeds that can get caught in a new staple line and cause problems. They are on my doc's "Don't eat till six months" list. Also, your sleeve is still a little numb, so you may not feel pain in your sleeve if you eat too much. You'll feel it other places, mine was my shoulder if I over-filled Rex (my sleeve). It's really important to under-eat your sleeve. You can always eat a few bites more, but it's really painful when the sleeve lets you know it's over-filled.

Is this true about strawberries because nobody told me this, and I eat strawberries quite often, and it was one of the first solid foods that I had! Ugh! I'm going to have to check with my doctor about this.

I wouldn't think that a sleeve could be numb at three weeks out. I definitely feel fullness and even pain when I eat too much. I'm wondering if the shoulder pain you have could be from nerves that extend from your back. I know that, right in the beginning, many people have shoulder pain from the gas that fills our body cavity during surgery, but eating too much shouldn't trigger shoulder pain. That's interesting.

Camarillo, I'm 8 months out, but my sleeve referred it's pain from being over-filled to my shoulder for the first month or two. I simply learned to under-eat my sleeve. Now, I definitely feel fullness in my sleeve, but it is numb for quite a while, thank goodness, or we'd all be writhing in pain constantly. :)

I haven't gotten sick yet, thank goodness, but I have noticed that when I do eat too much, my heart races, does anyone else do that?

I understand now, Lissa. Thanks for that explanation. I think I was misunderstanding the word "numb."

I don't think my heart races, but I'll have to check. In the few times that I've eaten too much, I've felt like I didn't want to move much for fear of my stomach bursting! I just had to lay down until the pain went away. That's only happened a couple of times, and now I stop myself before I get there.

Learning to leave just a bite or two on the plate is a tough one for me as I imagine it is for a lot of people here. There were six kids in my family growing up, and we didn't have a lot, and we were taught (sometimes severly) not to waste food.

Camarillo, I grew up in the clean plate club, too, unfortunately for my hips. ;) One thing that has really helped me is the concept of putting LESS on my plate. I eat off pretty little china saucers, and I only put a spoonful or two of food on my plate. After I eat that, then I check to see if I'm really still hungry or just want more of the taste. I've purchased quite a few sauces lately, just to add some variety and flavor to my go-to foods (chicken, steak and pork). I fill up quickly on 3 oz of meat, but the sauces make them a little less bland.

When I get done eating, I always try to walk around for a bit, even just inside the house. For some reason, that helps me feel less full, probably because it pushes the food further down in my sleeve. Otherwise, when my 30 minutes is up and I take that first drink of Water, it hurts.

I'm not complaining, not when I'm staring 100 pounds lost in the eye. I'd have given my eyeteeth this time last year to weigh 100 pounds less. I can't imagine how I will feel when I get to goal... I'll probably be on the floor crying from happiness! :) That's the journey we're all taking right now... to Goal. :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
