QueBSure 5 Posted May 5, 2012 Learning my food triggers is HUGE. Every since I started looking more into my eating patterns, I don't like what I see. I guess it's just a part of the process to a healthier me for the rest of my life.
shellbell33081 115 Posted May 5, 2012 It is hard. I'm 2 weeks post-op so there isn't much I can eat. However, I still want chinese really bad lol. I know I absolutely cannot have it, but still crave it. I just stay busy and try to keep my mind off of food. I also have cleaned out my fridge and pantry so I do not have anything at home I can't eat. Good luck and stay strong!
Lissa 2,631 Posted May 5, 2012 I think we all fight the urge to eat what we know we shouldn't. Know your triggers and avoid them, but don't deprive yourself to the point that you end up binging. Of course, that's not applicable when you are on the liquid diet. Then, you just have to stick to the plan. Good luck!!
topgun 63 Posted May 5, 2012 I was only a few weeks out (3, I think) and I was able to eat mushroom chicken and that sort of satisfied my Chinese craving for the moment. At least it was something! I had a tendency to test my sleeve too early on, though, and it led to some pretty uncomfortable moments. I know, now, pretty much when to stop eating and I'm a happier man for it. You are probably in the soft foods segment of the post-op eating plan so if you choose your foods wisely and stick close to the plan you can diversify your menu a bit, you just can't eat a lot of anything. If you're trying new foods, take it slow and easy by only tasting a small bite and seeing if your sleeve can tolerate it.
Doreykn 113 Posted May 5, 2012 Drink & walk, drink & walk... takes your mind off of food. I also eat a Protein Bar when I get munchie!

clk 3,519 Posted May 9, 2012 Yes, it's hard but you're doing the VERY best thing you can do for yourself post-op. You're fixing the heart of the problem and learning what made you overweight in the first place. This is the hardest part of the entire thing, in my opinion. Losing the weight was pretty easy even though it happened more slowly than I wanted. Actually fixing ME was harder but so very worth the effort. Keep it up! This is what it's about - not just getting a healthier body but a healthier mind and outlook, too. ~Cheri
