CHELL 41 Posted May 5, 2012 I'm feeling a little discouraged after my first post op appt yesterday. I'd only lost 9 lbs post but 17 lbs overall. He said most of his patients would have lost atleast 20 by now. Needless to say that i didn't feel good hearing that n it brought back all the fears I had pre op about being the only one this won't work for. Sad face today. aliandrews 98 Posted May 5, 2012 I think you are doing great. Everybody loses at a different rate and I don't think he needs to judge you. You will lose the weight. It is just going to take time. Keep your chin up and just follow the rules by getting in your Protein and fluids.
Cmullinvegas 39 Posted May 5, 2012 Everyone's body is different. He's making a generalization and doesn't know your body. You know your body, trust your instincts and what's good for you. You're loosing so you're on track.
Lissa 2,631 Posted May 5, 2012 Well, you're following the post-op diet your doctor gave you and your body is probably still retaining a bit of Fluid from surgery. At your next appointment, you'll have lost more than the doc is expecting, so he'd better make it up to you then about how fantastic you are doing! Don't let that thoughtless comment get you down. You're doing great and this surgery WILL work for you!
MyGastricSleeveLife 180 Posted May 5, 2012 I don't know why doctors can be so heartless sometimes! He should know better! Stick to your guidelines & do what you can do. Everyone loses at different rates! He really has no right to say that to you if you're following your post-op plan! There are so many factors that come into play with weight loss, especially with surgery added onto it all. Just do your best & don't stress (since stress helps our bodies hang onto weight)!! gmanbat 5,889 Posted May 5, 2012 **Gman scratches his head** That seems like a nice weight loss to me. But then again, I don't have degree in medicine and insensitivity. I think he must have gone to the same pre-med school as my Urologist, Dr. Doom.
