When Does The Hair Loss Stop?

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I was sleeved on January 20th and since surgery am down about 43lbs. My hair started falling out about a month ago and has not stopped!! So my question for those of you a little farther out is when will it stop???? I don't want to lose it all!! Any advice? I am taking Biotin already and I know it will help with regrowth but I just wanna have an idea of how much longer it will keep falling out. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I havent had ANY problem with losing hair. I take the BIOSIL drops...they are NASTY...but I mix them in my drink.....I usually do 12 drops a day. It takes about a month before you see results but STICK with them and you will be glad you did. Drops work better than the capsules.

Mine stopped falling out at month nine and it started about the same time as yours did. It got thin but I was never in danger of being bald! BTW, nothing--no Shampoo, conditioner, or supplement--can stop Hair loss if it's going to happen to you, but B Vitamins, Iron, and minerals will help it grow back healthy.

You can get the BIOSIL drops online on amazon.....usually a little over 20 bucks a bottle. TOTALLY worth it

It stopped the Hair loss and I have new hair growing in. My hairdresser commented on how my hair seemed thicker and healthier...thats when I told her what I had been taking....its different than "Biotin" ...its choline stabilized and I think that makes a big difference. JMO :)

prenatal Vitamins can help - lots of extra stuff - we're not eating for two, but we need to get in the nutrients as if we were.

I started taking it within the first week after surgery....i would put 2 drops in my medicine cup with my Protein Shake. By the way...it tastes NASTY and smells like fish. Now I mix 10 drops in a full 8-10 ounces of liquid before taking it.

How soon can you take it? I have not experience any hair loss as of yet, my surgery was on May 1st?

D1NOnly, Hair loss usually doesn't begin that early. Most people begin losing it around 2 months post op, if at all.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
