Wow...i am so impressed... surgery was Wed May 2 ... home on Thursday May 3...today Friday May 4 and on Protein liquids...

pain is tolerable! stomach is swollen and bruised but was expecting worse so happy about this stage...

Protein shake went down easy today...sipped slowly (8 oz took 1 hour to finish) but no complications... :)

Very tired, so resting lots....but i have to remember i have arthritis and it is very painful, so walking not easy but doing the best i can.

I feel so much better each time i get out of bed, so excited about the progress in only 3 days....

thank you all for listening !

Hi Sandy....this is also Sandi. :) I'm so glad you are doing this well after surgery!!! I have been wondering what to expect when I come home from surgery. Ya see...I'm single and live by myself. I was wondering if I will need to have someone come stay with me for a few days or if I'll be able to manage on my own? They plan on keeping me in the hospital for 3 days. I'm supposed to fly from San Diego back to Houston on the 4th day.....I figured if I can fly, I should be ok.

What do you think?

Sandi .... Hi, nice to meet you :)

while you are in the hospital....check out a few things to decide if you need help a bit when you get home.

1- are you able to get out of bed without assistance ?

2- are you able to get off the toilet by yourself ?

3- are you able to walk around by yourself ?

4- are you able to fix your own meals ?

if you are able to do these things then you should be ok...

What happened to me is, the muscles in my stomach area were/are hurting so much that when i got my tush lower than my knees, i needed help getting upright... But today being day 3, i am almost able to do it all by myself... A little trouble yet, getting out of bed...but everything else all ok...

If you have someone available for the first evening / next morning at home, i would ask them to stay....it would give you piece of mind...but if you are doing all ok before leaving the hospital, see if you can have someone on stand-by at home....just in case...

Good luck and keep me updated..

Healing hugs sent your way!

Sandy

Day 6.... i can't believe tomorrow is one week post op! i have my doctor appointment at 2:15 tomorrow and am looking forward to it... I guess i want confirmation by the doctor on how great i feel... :)

today i would like something with a bit more flavor... I have been having vanilla and chocolate Protein drinks, blended cream of mushroom Soup, beef or chicken broth, sugar free cherry Jello or Sugar Free Chocolate or butterscotch pudding... Can we say bland!

i don't want to upset the healing process of my sleeve but am looking forward to Friday when i am allowed refried Beans and melted cheese!

Hope ya all had a great day!

Sandy

Wow, you will be able to start eating real food 1 week post op? That's great. I just got my approval today for 6/14. I love reading stories like yours -- sounds like it's going pretty well and to say it's only been a week! Good luck and have a great dr. appt tomorrow!

lol....it may be "real" food but not original consistency.... Here is how my Dr and NUT have it set up post-op:

Clear Liquids - day of surgery & day after (may 2 & 3)

Protein liquids - 1 week (may 4-10)

Puree foods (baby food consistency) - 1 week (may 11-17)

Mechanical Soft & Mushy - 2 weeks (may 18-31)

Regular Diet - limit MEALS to no more than 3/4 cup..

Wow I am so glad to hear how well you are doing. I am having surgery in July in MX and like boots 321 I am single and hope I can handle the aftercare by myself. I'm amazed your feeling so well in such a short time. Keep us updated. I hope my surgery goes as well as yours.

Wednesday was 6 weeks: where did the time go....i had the 3 week stall and found another one this week.... It is frustrating, even though i know they happen, it surprises me....

Weight loss, so far:

294 day of surgery (5-2)

257 this morning. (6-16)

minus 37 pounds in 6 weeks....

I have to admit, at 4 weeks, when i was ok'd for "normal" diet and i am finding this hard... I am not listening to my stomach and eat more than i should most every meal... It could be 1 bite to much, but each one of those add up...plus, with the 1 bite to much, i get nauseous ....

I need your help! would you all please share with me a structured daily menu plan? Maybe a couple days worth....thank you so much...

Breakfast: what and how much

Lunch: what and how much

Dinner: what and how much

Snacks? yes or no?

I am hoping if enough of you respond i can set up a diet plan for a month or more....

Either, message me here or email me at: tjmom53@yahoo.com

Thank you all in advance for your help...

Sandy/tjmom

This is my typical day menu: breakfast-protein shake. I workout at 4 am and to work by 6. Snack-weight watched string cheese. Lunch- 2 oz chicken, turkey, white fish or shrimp. Might be with some greens or maybe not. Snack- maybe another cheese or some rolled up lunch meat. One slice. Dinner-left over lunch lol.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
