MeMeMEEE 206 Posted May 4, 2012 If you are allowed your Protein Powder, try mixing in some chocolate or vanilla - you'll want to cool it down a little first. Also, you can use Torani or Davinci SF syrups - they are clear.

Joni 94 Posted May 4, 2012 If you are on full liquids as I was 2nd day postop, you can certainly add some skim milk to it. We use milk to make our Protein Drinks right? I'm not allowed caffeine but you said Decaf anyway. I say enjoy!

MinaT 669 Posted May 4, 2012 Ha, my nurses and doctors would freak if we had caffeine before or after surgery. Caffeine is a diuretic and it's hard enough getting in the 64 ounces of Water needed for many people and there is always a risk of dehydration, which is a huge complication of this surgery and there are documented cases that dehydration has resulted in death. For me, it was hard switching to decaff and I don't even have my surgery date yet, but I thought it would be better to go through caffeine withdrawals before surgery than have to deal with that on top of everything else after surgery. I had some testing done recently that said I am dehydrated and I drink 64 ounces of plain Water a day on top of my Protein shake, and my alo awaken and Vitamin water. That surprised me.
