ooffa511 506 Posted May 4, 2012 My doc gave me meds for heart burn. Not really working He fixed a hitael hernia as well. Should I call the doc?
Mab 44 Posted May 4, 2012 Yes, absolutely call your doctor. I had bad heartburn after surgery, was put on Protonix twice a day and then two and a half weeks after surgery, had to be readmitted to the hospital for 3.5 days due to erosion in my esophogus and stomach. I could not eat or drink anything without excruciating pain. I'm not saying this will happen to you by any means, but I am saying not to f*** with heartburn. I hope you feel better soon, heartburn blows.
Lauranbob Mc 94 Posted May 4, 2012 never had heartburn before the surgery but after it I had it constantly. Had to sit up in the chair to sleep. I was given a Rx for dexilant once a day and this still is fantastic. nothing since I started taking.
NancyJerry 139 Posted May 4, 2012 I swear by Nexium!!
Wheetsin 714 Posted May 4, 2012 I'm on Omeprazole 20mg twice a day. If I forget to take it for a few days, or don't get both doses in, I can tell I've missed it. Especially if I have anything citrus (e.g. lemonade drink mix).
kczar 166 Posted May 4, 2012 Sorry you're having such an issue with heartburn. My surgeon says that he will often "tighten" up the esophagus if it looks like the patient might have issue with reflux. Hoping that I won't run into this issue since it's one of the reasons I'm getting the sleeve in the first place!
Musharooni 62 Posted May 4, 2012 Heartburn hell here, too. Used to wake up in the night nauseated from the heartburn. Was having to do multiple doses of Omeprazole due to "bleed thru". Switched to 1 Dexilant a day and no more heartburn.
ooffa511 506 Posted May 4, 2012 I had pomegranate lemonade crystal light and the heartburn kicked in. I will never do that again.
Mab 44 Posted May 4, 2012 Crystal Light, in addition to any kind of tea, gives me heartburn. Ocean Spray makes a yummy Cran Peach flavor (for water) that hasn't given me any issues. Still, if I'm having a flare up, I stick to plain Water.
