8 Months Post-Op, 94 Pounds Gone Forever! With Pics

Recommended Posts

Here are my 8 month post-op pics, along with a new pre-op picture of me I discovered tonight. I have to say that I feel like a whole new person... and, just for reference, I've probably lost almost as much as the bride in the picture weighs!!

LOL BK Mama! That's not a pole. It's the divider between my mirrored closet doors. That's hilarious because a friend of mine's son keeps telling me it's time I took up stripping! :)

JSWilbur, Thanks. I love the quilt too! Would you believe I found it at Goodwill? $5 bucks! It's pretty well made, although it needs some hand sewing in a couple of places. I keep looking at the lost and found quilt site to see if anyone is looking for it. :)

Benisa, In Florida, notaries are allowed to perform weddings, and I am a travelling notary. It's a little different from what Louisiana notaries are allowed to do. Your state allows them powers that almost mimic an attorney's role in other states; mine doesn't.

The bride happens to be the daughter of one of my best friends. I was extremely honored to be asked to perform that wedding ceremony! :)

Thanks, Mama! I posted it to FB earlier and JOKINGLY said that I was the blimp in the black dress. I got a TON of yelling at for that one. :) No, I don't think I was a blimp, just wanted to make sure folks knew I wasn't the bride in the picture! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
