Before I had surgery I did a weight loss program when you took a weekly shot with B12, b6, and something called lipotropic I think. Does anyone know if this shot could be used after surgery? I know the b12 could help a lot with energy and my hope is that the lipotropic which is used to break down fat would be able to do the same now as it did before. I just want to make sure it's not something that would hurt me. I still am going to ask my dr but I wanted to see if anyone here had any experience with this. Thanks :]

I have a B complex every 3 months, and it contains some extras but I think they are more for Iron, Vit. D absorption (aided by sunlight) and such...It isn't a weight loss shot.

Lipotropic protiens help break down fat I think...but not sure if injecting them helps. Curious to see what answers you get.

I used to take those shots weekly along with daily pills as part of a weight loss program years ago (at least 15-20). I lost weight, lots of it, but of course it came back. I wouldn't go there again. If your sleeve isn't enough, and you're looking for additional help, I'd check out qnexa. It won't be approved until July specifically for weight loss, but the 2 drugs that are combined to make it ARE available now, and have been in use for a long time. Some people are getting their doctors to order those 2 drugs (phentermine and toprimate).

My sleeve is doing great. Down 27lb in 1 month and 1 week since surgery. I just am looking for a little something extra to get my body feeling better and more fueled for work outs and stuff. I took phenermine(sp) a while ago and it made me insanely shaky for some reason.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
