MissBliss 29 Posted May 3, 2012 I am a 49 year old married woman. I have been heavy all my life. I NEVER had attention from men. No one ever flirted or even made eye contact. My fat made me invisible...until now. And I really don't know how to deal with it! I get all kinds of attention from men and I am so surprised. I am still a good 50+ pounds to goal, not svelte by any means. I am a little baffled and amused by the attention. Someone asked me for my phone number today! That hasn't ever happened before. I feel like a teenager, but even teenage girls know how to handle this. It seems to be a life lesson I never learned. I know in the grand scheme of things this is not a problem, but it is perplexing! Any guidance?
Wheetsin 714 Posted May 3, 2012 Well... are you happily married? j/k I missed the flirting gene, I think. I think ppl are just being nice. I don't think I will ever recognize flirting, no matter how in-your-face it is. And I will never EVER assume any interaction is flirting, I don't think. I've had other people tell me someone was flirting with me and I really don't see it... I just thought they were being nice, or it was a coincidence or something. Most of my friends are guys. I relate better to men than women. So maybe I'm just too influenced by the male inppropriateness of everyday things. I don't know. And on the flip side, I've been "just being nice" with guys and had their wives get defensive, or I've been asked, "Are you flirting with me?" when to me, it was just meaningless joking around. Advice - maybe just learn to smile and point at your wedding ring.
BKMama 179 Posted May 3, 2012 Smile, graciously accept the compliments and keep it moving. if you weren't married I'd say flirt back! You're probably oozing confidence (even if you don't know it) which makes the guys crazy. Soak up that you'll never be invisible again.
