sinus and too tight

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was having the worst time with my band for over a week, not keeping anything down, and was considering getting a total unfil. Went to Dr. Speigels office and his PA was wonderful. She xrayed me and said my band was not to tight but I told her I had been having terrible sinus attacks and she said that was the problem. The mucus gets caught in the band and closes it up. Who would have "thuck it"....I did get a small unfill because I was so scared and I am glad I did.

Just thought this might help someone who has had a tight band along with a cold or sinus.:)

I have the same doctor. I love his PA. she is great. Takes her time unlike the Doctor. I was band on May 19 06. I hope you are feeling better. I live in the Humble area. Whar part of town are you from?

Have a great Day.

Suzanne.

Wow, that is amazing. My restriction has been all over the place and I was blaming the heat. But, I have terrible sinus problems too so perhaps that's my problem??? Very interesting, thanks for sharing!

I am having my operation on the 21st of Sept. I have post nasal drip at night. Could that cause a problem? Should I tell my Dr. before the operation?

I wouldn't think it would cause any major problems at all, but definately mention it to your doctor and anethesiologist to be safe. Wow, Sept. 21 will be here shortly...good luck!!

Post nasal drip has definitely been blamed for band issues. I would mention it.

What issues has it caused? I have the same problem so I'm curious what might happen. Thanks.

I recall having people tell me their docs said their recent sinus infections/problems had contributed to their band being much tighter all the sudden and that mucous plugs had caused them some problems as well. Nothing un-fixable, just inconvenient and curiously annoying.

Interesting! I usually have a couple sinus infections every years so if I feel tight all of a sudden I'll know why!! Thanks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
