My Vitamins Are Making Me Sick.

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 4/3, I have been feeling and doing great down 31 pounds since surgery. Woo Hoo! I am having trouble getting my Vitamins down and was wondering if anyone could recommend one that has as much of the nutrients and Calcium that the chewable bariatric ones do but that don't taste as bad? Thank you so much.

Not all chewable bariatrics taste the same. The best tasting one I've found (I was previously banded for 6 years, so I've tried a LOT) also happens to have (IMO) the best nutritional status. The brand is "Bariatric Fusion" - they come in a few flavors and I think strawberry is by far the best. (Website says they now have orange, strawberry, tropical, wild cherry, mixed berry - I've only tasted orange & strawberry). I don't know why Vitamin companies always want to flavor everything orange, uck. The strawberry ones are fairly sweet, smooth tasting, and don't leave an aftertaste -- and don't feel like you're sucking on chalk. The orange ones kinda do (they taste similar to Centrum chewables). They also easily chew down to nothing.

These contain everything, no add'l supplements needed. Except Fiber, sometimes. ;)

I think if you email them they will send free samples.< /p>

Thank you Wheetsin. I have the Bariatric Fusion that I purchased from the surgeon but they are unfortunately the orange ones and they are not agreeing with my sleeve at all. Perhaps I will try the strawberry ones.

Thank you swimmer I may try that before I go to the expense of buying new ones. Congrats on your weight loss.

Swimmer brought up a good distinction. I had assumed the taste/texture was making you sick. Is it that you have a hard time swallowing them, or that once they're down, they are making you sick?

Wheetsin,

It is the taste and texture I think. Once I chew them up and go to swallow them that's when the trouble begins.

Thank you. My surgeon allows flintstones. I got sick of the flavor and switched to Gummy ones. Hope you find something that works.

I grind all my pills with a mortar and pestle until its a fine powder. Then mx it with Chobani yogurt. It's tolerable and I eat my Breakfast down the hatch simultaneously I do use Trader Joe's high potency chewables. They're pretty good

Bariatric Advantage all the way!

I still use the chewable Multivitamin and I crush them and put it in my morning Protein beverage. They have a vanilla so it doesn't skew the taste of the beverage.

Bariatric Advantage Calcium is a go to as well. The flavors are raspberry, caramel, lemon and chocolate. I am partial to the lemon and chocolate because the chocolate satisfies cravings and the lemon makes my brain think im eating star bursts.

I take Omega three from Arbonne daily and I take the Arbonne colon cleanse 4 days every 2 weeks (to help stay soft).

I was taking Mirilax to keep myself regular, but with the Arbonne daily Probiotics in my morning beverage and the bi weekly colon cleans I am regular and not putting man made drugs in my body.

If you want to learn more tips and tricks from an 8 monther that has learned a lot send me a message. I am also a skype coach that helps with menu planning and support via phone, skype and in person here in Tampa.

Talk to you soon!

Brook

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
