thinoneday 445 Posted May 4, 2012 Hi, I'm out 3 years and still can't and probably will never be able to have salads. The lettuce or any leafy vegatable nearly kills me. It's a pain like i've never had before, a call me an ambulance pain. . . it lasts for about 30 minutes and goes away. . . my doctor said that alot of people with the sleeve can't tolerate salad. Do I miss it? No, i just do the best i can with the other options, like coleslaw is good, mixed veggies is ok, cooked veggies are good. . stuff like that. . . good luck

desertmom 297 Posted May 4, 2012 I must confess that I am seven weeks out and have had salad.Maybe because I have had the band for many years( and I know I really chew things very very well) I've had no problem whatsoever. Having said that I only eat a spoonfull of a green salad...not a lot.I also eat snap peas, green Beans, cabbage, carrots cucumber...but again, very very little at a time.I've just missed it too much and at least one meal a day will have something like that.I recon if you can at stuff like brussel sprouts and broccoli, which I do too,why not salad? just chew, chew, chew. xxo

Meli01 53 Posted May 7, 2012 I am 8 weeks out and have been eating salad for a few weeks now. It is one of the few things that doesn't seem to upset my stomach at all. I actually eat a lot of lettuce, I have turkey lettuce wraps and cheeseburger lettuce wraps. 1 vsg30815 reacted to this
Spatters3 315 Posted May 7, 2012 I'm almost 3 months post-op and I ate a small yummy tossed salad yesterday. I REALLY enjoyed it and didn't have any discomfort. All I can suggest is that you try it, just do it slowly and wait a long time between bites just in case you have problems.
