Well today is 1 year since my surgery- It has been the hardest year of my life!!! I have lost about 125lbs and went from a size 24/26 to a size 10/12. I offically know what it is like to feel comfortable in my skin, to have people look at me like "you've never had a weight problem", to have people (family) not recognize me, to go shopping and just buy things or actually have fun trying things on, it has made my relationship better with my husband, it has showed me who were really my friends, and all of that because I made a choice to do something for ME and not anyone else. It has had it's down side, Hair loss, Vitamin deficiency problems and going in for shots monthly, throwing up, wishing I could eat (I am an emotional eater), throwing up, (I know I said that twice- but I woke up from surgery throwing up and have had issues with it ever since). THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE AND I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO REGRETS EXCEPT THAT I DIDN"T DO IT SOONER!!!!!

TINA :)

Wow, you are amazing! I can't even imagine. You mentioned that you found out who were your real friends; could you please expand on that a little? Were people unsupportive? Jealous? I have a few friendships that seen to revolve around food and bingeing. I wonder what we will have in common after the sleeve. Also, you said that you are an emotional eater, I am too. What do you do now when you get the urge to binge?

Thanks for sharing - very inspirational! And I do empathize with you on the throwing up - I have issues with that as well. I can't wait to be at the stage that you're at, but even now, throwing up and all, the journey is quite amazing.

Congrats, way to go.

I love to hear the stories from a year out. It is great to see how everyones life has changed, and is encouraging.

Being 7.5 months out it is the next big time for me, other than getting to my goal weight (which may or may not happen before the first year).

Thanks for sharing

Congratulations, Tina! We have a lot in common, including the throwing up--so sorry to hear about that, but hopefully it will be resolved FOREVER soon. :-) What a terrific year!! Enjoy your success.

To answer you- sorry I am just getting back on here- I really don't hang out with them anymore- I thought maybe it was just me being upset cause I couldn't eat- but then it became more of - I was tired of them -well making fun of me- and it really made me nauseous to watch them gorge themselves. I have found that because you have to eat slower anyways- you are done with your 1/4 of a plate lol by the time they eat the whole thing- so it usually works out lol. Sorry to say it but sometimes I just eat potato chips- they go down easy and I have yet to get sick on them. I do throw up A LOT - they have done every test on me and don't know why- I was anorexic/with throwing up tendencies while in college, so it comes "easy" to me and I don't know if part of it is mental- but I really don't want to and am really struggling with it. They said I may have dumping syndrome- so I don't know- I eat VERY slow and never til I am full. Hope that answers some of your questions. Have a great week!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
