Nerves are normal before any surgery. Just take deep breaths, try not to dwell on it and do what you can to handle any specific anxieties that you have. Before you know it, you'll be sleeved and wondering why you were so nervous! :)

Had my sleeve done Monday, the 7th. Definately takes some getting used to. Left the hospital on Tuesday, by Wednesday was off pain meds. Keeping up on the liquids is hard, the Vitamins even worse. I am drinking more by the day, and feeling a lot better. The gas pains really suck, and walking does help. Can't wait until my follow up on Monday, I can't wait to eat yogurt and a little bit of an egg!!!! With the pre and post op diet, I am learning that I miss solid food and the taste of real food. The small burps, and bowel gurgles are crazy!

So ABC news story tonight was about 1-800-GET-THIN and how they have killed six of their patients with lap band surgery. Now I was good until that story.

Note it was the Lapband! I had a military dr I just flat would not let toug me because if his cavilar attitude. I was instinctively right to do so - all of his Lapbanda have been revised. He put them in upside down or wrong!

That is amazing! Maybe if some of these doctors are threatened with jail time, like Michael Jackson's doctor, they would rethink having extra training or doing procedures they are not experienced with.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
