kellythestarr 39 Posted May 2, 2012 I got home and I am really sore but I haven't has any nausea at all. So that's exciting!! It's kind of surreal that Im really here with a gastric sleeve. I've waited e very long time for this. Did anybody else just go through the surgery? I keep sipping on Water and broth but I am scared I will over do it so I am taking TINY sips. Any help with that would be great. What else are you guys including on your liquid diet?
Janet53 21 Posted May 5, 2012 Hi Kelly, I had my sleeve done on Monday (30th) and I am still having a good deal of pain. Water is actually the hardest thing for me to sip. My throat is ok but when it hits my stomach it hurts. It's like this small cramping pain every time. It's there with everything but mostly Water or Crystal Light. Nothing I can't handle but it sure is annoying. I am stressing a little about getting the Protein in. I can drink the shakes but to actually get in 60 grams of Protein? It's not happening. I am sure it will get better though. My most annoying symptom is dizziness. I had bouts of vertigo before the surgery anyway and the surgery just brought it on. Not sure why, maybe being in a prone position for too long. Very annoying though because I keep feeling like I am going to fall over and I can't bend down which is not good. Again though, I am sure it will get better. I am on the full liquid diet now so I am doing the shakes and last night I had pudding and I added unflavored protein to it. It was ok but today I just don't think I can stomach it. I had some yogurt too which is very good and chicken broth. I was worried too about overdoing it because I can't really tell when I am full since it hurts to drink anyway. I've just been winging it. So far so good I guess. I was really hoping I would do so well getting the protein in that maybe I would not lose any hair but I guess that isn't going to happen. Oh! I can also eat popsicles which are great. Good luck to you!! 1 canne320 reacted to this
Mrs. KC 5 Posted May 5, 2012 I keep hearing more experienced sleevers that during ur liquid stage, its important to get in ur liquids. I am having a hard time bc i am on Clear Liquids and I hate the sweet taste of the clears!
suthern_girl2012 5 Posted May 5, 2012 My surgery was 4-30 as well. I had he complications (vomitting, nausea, & etc.) the 3 days after surgery. I didn't get discharge until Thurs. but you can have grits with skim milk as long as it goes through the strainer. It does feel funny going dwn but compared to Mon. & Tues. this is a walk in the park.
marimar 32 Posted May 5, 2012 4-30 as well and doing good so far... Water is also hard to get it, some diluted Protein Shakes not much tho, lots and lost of crystal light and popcycles, broth and some Jello also.... Hope you feel better soon!
TakeDeLongWayHome 7 Posted May 5, 2012 I had mine on the 30th, too. And sounds like we had the same problems, Suthern_girl...and I didn't get released until Thursday either. I know I need to try to get at least some Protein, but it's still painful to sip liquid which I hope ends soon. I did try some pudding and that seemed ok. Are you all still really bloated?? I am SO bloated...I can't wear my comfy "big" clothes that I wore before surgery. I didn't realize so many were sleeved on Monday.
kellythestarr 39 Posted May 5, 2012 I tried pudding this morning and it satisfying to me. Are you guys doing the Protein Shakes or are you doing powder or the shots?
TakeDeLongWayHome 7 Posted May 5, 2012 Kelly, the only thing I've tried so far was the sf carnation Breakfast w ff milk, and theres not a lot of Protein in it. I had it yesterday and it was good. I had some other brand ( cant think of it right now) here but just couldn't drink it. How are you doing with protein?
suthern_girl2012 5 Posted May 6, 2012 It's not painful but awkward. I feel the liquids hit my stomach. They told me take deep breaths and that helps. I'm able to keep liquids down. It's the taste im struggling with...jello is now nasty to me....I had baby food bananas and it had a metal taste.

D1NOnlySexyLady 70 Posted May 6, 2012 Hey everyone I had surgery on Tuesday, May 1st, and so far all I have been eating is crystal light, and Jello. Yesterday I tried some broth. Don't know if I should be starting my Protein Shakes since I am on clear liquids. For those who have SF popsicle, is there a specific brand you would recommend

warrior 9 Posted May 6, 2012 I just got some sugar free Fudgesicles. They taste good and have few more calories than a regular sf Popsicle but there's two grams of Protein in each one. Hey, I'll sneak Protein any way I can. 1 TakeDeLongWayHome reacted to this

MGM 140 Posted May 6, 2012 I just bought these for after. http://www.lpsupplements.com/media/01/a20791913003fd3a4ade66_m.JPG. Hope it comes up where you can look. It has 50g of whey Protein isolates, no sugar. Read about it. I know I'm jumping the gun, but I had the money now. May not have it when I need it. If I don't like it I'll choke it down! Lol.
