New Here- What All Do I Need To Know

Recommended Posts

Hello- my name is Amy, I'm a 28 year old Mom of 8. (edit- mom of 6, not 8, lol) I'm 5'3" tall and 225 lbs. I've tried nearly every diet under the sun including hcg, raw vegan, no s, weight watchers multiple times etc. I'm sure myt story is similar to the rest of you. I hate buying clothes, so I kindof live in rags. I hate going out in public, and I'm absolutely NOT living life. I want to be the best wife, mother, daughter etc that i can be. I want to be me.

I just heard about this surgery last week and I am set on going to dr. kelly. I'm calling his coordinator today to find out more.

whbat do I need to ask the coordinator? Or does she know all that I need to know and should I just listen? I have called this morning but I believe it was like 6am there. I'll wait a bit.

I have spent a lot of time on youtube watching videos of patients that have had the surgery etc trying to get educated- what all do I need to know? Is there a link somewhere where I can dfind info? I am SO SO SO SO EXCITED, I can barely stand it! I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Dear God, please let this be my answer! I need an answer. I'm miserable in this prison of fat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
