Hi All,

I'm nearly 2 weeks PO lost 22lbs and has been experiencing dizziness and temporary blackouts when I walk.

Bright lights hurt too. My concentration is low, response is slow too.

I can't walk as much as I'd like. I get tired really easily and my shoulders starts to ache ( i think due to low energy)

The thing is, I'm diabetic, and very conscious about my blood sugar, so far, my BS has gone down tremendously, and occasionally slightly, just very slightly high, otherwise, normal.

SO i conclude it is not hypoG. What's going on? I'm kinda worried.

Also, I fear eating anymore because the rate i'm eating. my BS is normal, I worry that if i eat anymore, my BS will go up, and I really don't want to be on diabetic meds again....

Pls enlighten me... :(

I would say call your nutritionist. Extreme fatigue is not uncommon (I went through it my second to third week). They should be able to help you figure out sone ways to feel normal again. They may advise a bit more sugar (a cup of juice, or popsicle or something) so you'll want to make sure you're doing it under their guidance.

Also, make sure you're getting in enough hydration. It doesn't take much drop in our internal Water volumes before you start to fall apart. The Protein helps too, but IMO the Water is a much more immediate player.

I agree with Wheetsin! Call your nut and up the Water intake before you end up in the hospital with dehydration. You might even want to call your doctor and see if s/he recommends that you get an iv to rehydrate you at this point.

Yeah, that soon post-op and your hydration is the mitigating factor in everything. I went through extreme fatigue in my first 2 weeks po, I think most of us do, after all, you are taking in less calories all day than an infant in a single meal!

Are you taking all your vitamins..?? B-12 is super important.

I tend toward anemia and I have low blood pressure. I've been trying to do some yard work lately and I feel like I'm constantly in a half black-out/almost fainting state. It especially hits me when I move to stand up from squatting or kneeling. I have to take lots of breaks and drink lots of fluids. I probably out to take some Iron too. I haven't yet but I have it on hand.

The others are right though- check in with your Surgeon's office is what I'd do.

I are with hadouni, it sounds like it could be your blood pressure is to low. Call your doctor and see if you can get a blood pressure check.

I also agree with hydration. Make sure you are always drinking Water.

Hi All,

Thanks for the advice! my Dr gave me some B complex today. I feel better I think... :)

I forgot to check my pressure though.. I'll keep an eye on it...

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
