CosmicVagabond 2 Posted May 2, 2012 Hi folks, I'm a week and a half post-op and am doing pretty well pain wise now, but going through surgery gave me one hell of a back pain. The muscles on the left side of my spine were totally knotted up, and the skin over them was numb. This was really the only "pain" I had from surgery. Someone has told me that there is a device they could have used during surgery that would have elevated my knees. Anyone else experience this?
deltadawn817 106 Posted May 2, 2012 I had horrible back pain for about a full 3 weeks. I did have days here and there that I was ok. As soon as I could take a bath I was taking one a day plus my long hot showers. I would try to stretch my back out as much as I could with the hot shower Water running on it. My husband was great during this time I had him running my back as much as possible.
gwynne 14 Posted May 2, 2012 Hi I think i know what you're referring to. I conclude it's because I sit/lay down too much, and always at the same position since I'm afraid to move. Occasionally, i'll go onto the massage chair, and try to move as much as I possibly can, like standing while watching TV etc. It's a lot better now that I can sleep on my sides... BUt I still feel it every time i lay on my back.. Are we talking about the same pain here? Lol!!
hope2Bfitand40 37 Posted May 2, 2012 I had back pain for about a month. I couldn't figure it out, but I wonder if I was overcompensating with my back by not using my abdominal muscles. Not sure, but one day it went away.
Sandpiper 6 Posted May 2, 2012 I am so glad you wrote this. I am two weeks out and I have been very sore in my back. I didn't even think about the lack of use of the abdomen muscles. Thanks!
