Am 11 days post op and am on soft food stage. I have been day dreaming about scrambled eggs with shredded pepper jack cheese all day so for supper that is what I made. OMG!! I couldn't even eat 2 bites. I became so nauseous and almost threw up...the taste was wonderful but I just couldn't eat anymore of it because of the nausiousness. Early this afternoon I had about a tsp of Peanut Butter and about 1/2 hr later got several pain in the left side of my neck and shoulder area.

I knw this sounds so weird but was wondering if anyone has experienced any of this before. I was so disappointed because I wanted those eggs o bad but sure wasn't liking to pay the price.

Dreams can easily turn into nightmares. Listen to your body, yes, but don't push yourself too much. You won't win any medals advancing quickly to the next stage. If anything, take it slower. Your dreams will still be there.

I always get frustrated when I have head hunger for something and I finally get it, and I can only eat a couple of bites. So frustrating but am trully thankful. It is even worst when feeling totally nauseous. ;)

Post surgery, I was also dreaming of an egg. Five weeks after surgery, when I was allowed soft foods, I tried the egg and it was awful. It didn't work for me at all.

At just over four months out I can now eat an egg.

Just give it time. A lot of things will change. I can't believe I had a piece of (thin crust) pizza yesterday. Of course it was over two meals, but I ate a piece of pizza, and without pain!

I am also on the soft food stage. I can eat basically any soft food without problem, except for a scrambled egg. I don't know what it is, but I had horrible pain after I ate the egg. I wasn't able to eat the whole egg. It started after about 1/2 of it. I haven't tried it since, but I probably will attempt in another 2 weeks or some.

fluffy things can expand... especially if they come in contact with Water and digestive juices. Also, some people grow a lactate intolerance briefly post op. You may have did a double whammy with a fluffy food and a milk product...just gotta keep testing to see what works. When I did soft foods I really liked the greek yogurt, Soups, puddings, and jellos

I had a bad experience with scrambled egg last week. Pain and weird feeling in my esophagus for about 14 hours. Won't be making that mistake again for a while. However, I've had a couple of poached eggs that went down just fine. Try poached or hardboiled egg if you are really craving it badly.

I think this is a mistake that so many people make ...they rush through the food stages. Good Point PDX!

I also agree you may have just eaten it too fast. When I found myself frustrated with the amount of food I could eat I just try to remind myself...food is for fuel only and I eat to live and this isnt the last time in the world I will ever be offered______________to eat. Those were all new ways of thinking for this formally fat girl.

I sure hope I a not taking over a topic, but for some reason I don't know how to start a topice of my own. So please forgive me if I should not have posted here. I am 3 week post op and feeling very sad. I was losing weight daily up until the 3rd week.. Now 2 days have gone by with not an ounce off:-( I am feeling so discouraged I have been thinking of purposfully vomiting after my meals. How long can a staff last?

Never fear. You've hit whats commonly known as the "3 week stall". During this week to two week period, you will see very little to no weightloss but you'll start seeing INCHES come off you. There are numerous posts on here about the three week stall you can search and read on. Just have to wait it out and keep doing what the doctor told you. I lost two pant sizes during my 3 week stall. So keep an eye on the inches!

I did read about the 3week stall but did not think it was going to happen to me since so much was coming off. To say I don't like it would be an understatement

This is a classic example of why they recommend that any new foods must be introduced very gradually and in very smal

Do yourself a favor and don't weigh every day. Now I weigh only once a week. If you weigh once a week, you won't ever have a 2 day stall. :P Don't be desperate and especially don't resort to anything like vomiting after eating. You will wind up in the hospital so fast with a case of dehydration or severe nutrient deficiency, both of which can be life threatening. THEN you really will be miserable, at best. It is a proven fact that those who lose slowly over an extended period are the most successful sleevers and the most likely to keep their weight off. Maybe a consultation with your NUT would be beneficial. Per my doctor's recommendation, I try to eat up to 1100 calories a day. I'm not always successful, but I try.

Don't let desperation defeat you. Stick with a plan and weight loss is inevitable.

I am about 3 weeks out. I didn't have trouble with the eggs when I first started. However, I did notice that I could hardly eat egg compared to other mushy foods. It is not only loaded with Protein but very dense. I haven't had a reaction to much of anything yet because I take tiny tiny bites and go really slow. This way I only have a tiny bit of a new food in me before things go wrong. I understand a lot of people have problems with Peanut Butter for quite a while. I have found the one thing I cannot take is Mayonnaise on anything. I thought it was the tuna, apparently not. Take all new things really slowly, the only nausea I have had is when I forget and drink after I eat. Both times, I vomited. I have to think I haven't had many other issues so far because of how I am approaching new food. I hope it gets better for you soon!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
