So some naysayers in my life who considered my surgery "the easy way out" are making faux laments for me that I will NEVER eat my favorite meal ever again. Not true, right? I just can't eat it like it's my last meal. My question is, when is the week date that this can happen? I was sleeved on April 24th.

Well ... it depends ... what is your favorite meal? Now, if you're going to say fried chicken, cheesy steak nachos and fried cheese sticks with a chocolate malt ... then yeah, you are never going to be able to eat your favorite meal again. (at least you certainly shouldn't even try)

The thing is, everything changes. For me, it was for the better. I loved nachos. Pile on the cheese, Beans, guac, sour cream, meat, chicken ... but now, I have really no desire to eat that. Sinful desires I do still have? Ribs. BBQ. Had them twice last week. I could only eat about 3 of them, but it was enough.

Every person is going to be different with when and what they can tolerate. For me, breads/pasta/rice was the last thing that I had issues with. I can eat all of them now without my stomach rebelling, but again, I only have a bite or two and I am satisfied. This occurred around 7 months = 28 weeks. So, 28 weeks of a few restrictions for a lifetime of health ... not a bad tradeoff, if you ask me.

Seriously? There's no way anyone here could tell you that. For one, we have no idea what your favorite meal is. For two, we don't know what your post-op diet is. For three, regardless of post-op diet, we don't know when you will tolerate what.

If your favorite meal is Jello, you can have it now. If it's well done steak and celery, it's gonna be a while.

Look at your post-op eating instructions. Locate the food category that matches the foods in your favorite meal. Based on the # of weeks out it is allowed, calculate.

Well, everyone is different and Doctors are different as far as when they want you to eat certain things. I was eating "regular" foods at 3 weeks out, albeit not much but I am going to be 12 weeks out on May 9th and I have been to chinese, mexican, pizza, sushi, steakhouses etc and have no issues other than not being able to eat much. I dont have any carbs, mostly meat and vegies but I am not going without. What is your favorite meal by the way, just curious.

My favorite meal is tacos! But I know that if I make tacos, I will over indulge myself bc this is a problem area for me. So I choose not to eat them. No problem, I really don't need them anyways. But there would be no stopping at one! Yikes, I have a fear of eating tacos. LOL ;)

Hi dorries, I have tacos...just no shell or tortilla. I go to out local mexican restaurant and they have the yummy ones with the cilantro and onions, I eat the meat and the veggies, sooo good. I can only eat one, maybe a couple extra bites of a second but it kills the craving and good Protein too! Trust me, you wont be able to eat too many!

I read on here a person said they had 1C. now and they were 18mo. ate everything but just a little I am bout 15weeks and can eat most anything if its not a healthy good thing I keep it to one or 2 bites that usually satisfies. I have not tried rice, Pasta, and bread except for a bite they all have too many carbs and not very nutritious. First protien, veg. then carbs that seems to be the lifestyle now but it feels so good when you step on the scale!

I don't think anything is definitely off of my menu. Some things I will pay for and rightfully think myself stupid for eating. In my case, high sugar junk. Not worth the cost.

Most real food can be eaten when you are completely healed up, just not very much. Why is volume of supreme importance? Chew food slowly, it stays in your mouth longer and you get a good dose of the taste.

You will be able to eat your small meal just smaller portion(s) of it. Also I have found some things just don't agree with me anymore.

I'm definitely not bi, though I have nothing against those who are.

But seriously, how could someone answer "When can I eat my favorite meal?," down to the week and date (or week, or date, not sure what you were after), without any info other than that?

If you could ask something a bit more specific, such as "What foods allowed at what stage per your plan" or "When could you have X, which happens to be my favorite food" - that's something we can answer.

Notice that even though you have replies, there's no one who is able to answer the question you asked.

Would it help if people shared post-op food stages?

Thanks everybody--well, except wheetsin--you're kinda a bi....

Uh ... Wheetsin, I think when she called you a bi, it wasn't a sexual reference, but rather a word that rhymes with witch.

Hmm, I can see that now, and I agree that's what he/she probably meant. But when the word is "bi" I read "bi". :)

Really makes no difference. It's still a question that's impossible to answer. If that makes me a bi, or b***h, I'm ok with that.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
