Hey Raven8888 and 17jrs, I'm a May 14th sleever too!

And let me reiterate as well katby, how much I appreciate you taking the time to post as well. I previously had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy after my gall bladder ruptured. So it was a big surgery that has probably left me with a lot of adhesions. My surgeon is prepared for that, but we won't really know how it will go until he's in there, looking around!

So I'm a bit nervous, and reading your posts is definitely helping me have a better understanding of how things may go for me in 10 days!

Keep getting better........one day at a time!

So glad your recovery is going well. It's nice to hear what you are experiencing in detail. I think a lot of us appreciate that you are putting in the time to share your experience with us. My surgery is coming up in less than two weeks. This helps to calm my nerves, and helps to know what expect. It is posts like these that really help me prepare mentally for what im about to face. You have great determination and a positive outlook. Congratulations on your new tummy! I'll be joining you soon!

I'm always willing to give as much detail as anyone wants! It was the more minor details that I wanted before surgery and wasn't able to get. I'm having to remind myself to let my thighs do all the work with movement. I have super toned hamstrings and quads for a reason, so I may as well make use of them! Don't try to be "brave" and wait for the pain to be unbearable before you accept meds or push the button on the pump. Accept the Zofran (or whatever anti-nausea meds they offer) on their schedule. It's so much easier to stay ahead of the nausea instead of trying to fix it once you have it. Walk, walk, walk! But don't push it too far. We made a stop at Walmart to pick up a couple of post-op necessities, and I thought I'd be smart and just walk. No way. I ended up having to have my mom go get me one of those carts. And don't be dumb like me and try to sit up using your core muscles! That's not fun at all!

I took a bath shortly after having gall bladder surgery yrs ago...laid back to wash my hair and then used my core muscles to sit up...worst mistake ever...I agree...don't use the tummy muscles for a while!!

That sounds awful! I know when I did it, it was the most pain I've experienced post-op, ever!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
