As you will see throughout this forum there are those that initially drop a lot of weight and then level out...There are some that seem slow and steady... And then there is everything in between! The fact that you are working out 30 minutes is real good AND losing slower or a normal amount of weight monthly is better for the skin, hair and gallbladder. I have lost only ten pounds three weeks out (so my loss is similar to yours), but I have lost a total 20 inches...so if you feel defeated by the scale try measuring yourself and you might be pleasantly surprised.

I average about 10 pounds a month, and that is safe. however, you need to measure yourself and see. How many inches you are losing rather than concentrate on the pounds. they will come off, dom't worry. You aren't eating enough for them not to.

I've lost 21 pounds in six weeks myself. Maybe we're just slow losers. It can be frustrating but the way I look at it, I'm losing weight that I wouldn't have lost on my own.

Today is my 5 week mark and as of Friday of last week I was down 52 lbs. BUT -- I have a lot to lose, and the majority of that came off in the first week. And I tend to lose a lot, then do nothing for a while, then lose a lot. I've really never been a consistent loser. I'm also having Fiber issues, and haven't had a BM in about 2 weeks. Started some additives to fix that today, so that might contribute a few pounds eventually. :)

Im 7 Weeks out and have lost 37 lbs but went from a size 22w to size 16 reg. I need to measure myself again to see how many inches I have lost. I have been a slow loser but my husband thinks I look amazing already and he loves to take me shoppingto try on new things! Im about to start working out more so im hoping I lose a little quicker but I feel good about myself now for the first time in a long time!

I am 6 weeks out today and down 26lbs. I have lost a total of 41lbs since pre-op diet. It is going slow for me as well, but like others mentioned, it should help with skin, hair.. etc. Hang in there. :)

I know what you mean. They tell me to be patient and my Doctor tells me not to jump on the scale. I feel great now!!!!!! Clothes are loose. So be patient.

I don't want to be "that girl" but in reality the rate of weightloss has very, very little to do with the condition of skin, and virtually nothing to do with hairloss (unless your weightloss is slow because your eating habits haven't changed much).

A balloon, fully blown up, and left that way for a while -- deflate it quickly, or deflate it slowly, it's equally deformed either way.

And the hairloss is a product of the nutritional changes in your body. Not how quickly your fat mass drops.

Always remain hopeful... I just think realistic expectations help. :)

I will be six weeks tomorrow and have lost 23 lbs post-op -- most of it during the first two weeks. I lost 50 prior to surgery, averaging 10 lbs each month. I keep reminding myself when I am a bit disappointed in the numbers on the scale that I feel good, my clothes fit loose, I easily walk places without getting out of breath, and feel in control of my life. I sometimes have to remind myself that I told the surgeon that it wasn't about the "weight" as much as about being comfortable in my body and knowing I am learning now how to eat and exercise so I can eventually maintain the "comfortable body" for years to come. This forum has truly helped me stay on track and alleviates the disappointments.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
