I Can Eat Anything

Recommended Posts

My stomach is completely healed and I am eating about a cup a meal. Some foods use to hurt, but now everything is tasting good without any discomfort. Now that I can eat anything, I am having a hard time resisting sweets. I am 18 months out and I am really fighting to keep this in check. Anyone else having this head hunger problem? If so any suggestion to overcome it?

I'm all for everything in moderation. I find that with myself if I totally ban all sweets or treats then I just crave them like mad and then binge on them. If I have one bite of something sweet then it holds back that craving for quite a bit of time. I know that not everybody will agree with me on this one but I know how my mind and body work and I am losing weight. During the first few weeks I completely banned carbs and boy did I turn into Cranky Kitty. My husband was very thankful when my NUT told me to get some carbs in.

As for other foods, just make sure to measure them out in appropriate proportions (e.g. 1/2 cup) so that way you don't overeat.

Yes I need to get back to measuring my food. Especially since I can eat more than that now. Thanks for the advice Mews.

I use sweets as a reward for a hard workout. Yesterday, I burned 1,800 calories doing a triathlon so I rewarded myself with chocolate peanut clusters, a first (I still lost a pound for the day). The peanuts were part of my carb replenishment and the chocolate was a bonus. Everything in moderation is a good motto.

Head hunger is the worst I will open the frig. at least 10 times a day and think I'm not even hungry! I found a Nature Valley Protien bar at costco it a Peanut Butter dark choclate bar has 10gm protien and 14carbs with peanuts and crunchies tastes too good to be healthy I eat half in afternoon and half after dinner cause of course I always need dessert after dinner!!

I find one good way to deal with this is to have non-addictive sweets in the house, ones that will satisfy the sweet craving, but you won't go nuts for them. For example, I found out the hard way that I CANNOT keep Toblerone in the house. It's my absolute favorite kind of chocolate and I WILL consume inordinate amounts of it if it's in the house. But I don't care that much for, say, dark chocolate, or Turkish delight. Therefore, I keep those in my cupboards and when I feel the urge to have something sweet, I have one or two pieces of either and it takes the edge off without spurning a binge.

I bought some giant Toblerones on sale after Easter and I have to admit that last weekend, I brought the two that survived with me to the gym and gave them to a guy who has a young son (they are just too good to go in the garbage!).

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
