So I was sleeved in July of 2011 at 220 lbs. it is now April 30. I weigh 167 and although I could never have achieved this without the surgery, I have not lost what I had hoped for at this point. I want to lose at least another 20 lbs but the scale has not budged in months. I'm wondering if this is it? :( I feel like I've failed, like I ruined my sleeve.

Any advice out there would be appreciated.

Ps. My daughter wants the surgery so we are heading to Mexico in early June. I'm nervous for her. I have no regrets but it is a hard journey and I pray she is prepared for this drastic change.

I doubt that's it. But, it's now on you to make the sleeve work by adding in more exercise, or refining your diet. Our bodies seem to have "set points" where they like to hang out. Mine got stuck between 265-260 for a little over 2 months and I've fought like heck to get below that number, but the scale is now moving again. Of course, on the way up, I was between 260-265 for over 8 years. I now know that I will have to fight harder and work more to lose the weight...and I'm fully expecting to stall around 210 and have to power my way through that number as well, since I was THERE for quite some time as well.

Step up your exercise and Water intake and change up your food routine, making sure you get the Protein you need. It WILL happen, but it may be very slow. However, you're not in a race and you've done an amazing job with your sleeve so far! :)

Good luck!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
