I am so sad to hear this news.

Ryan was a devoted husband, and friend to all. His writings and style of writing inspired ME to be more creative. He was one that I would re-read his postings 3 or 4 times before moving on.

May he rest in heavenly peace.

Id love to purchase a copy of his book. Think Amazon would have it?

Ryan... You were a very dear friend and you came to my rescue with meaningful words of wisdom more times than I can count. You inspired me with your insight and your love and loyalty to your dear wife Patty and I will miss you. Patty... I am so sorry... and at a loss for words... (((Hugs)))

Greg thank you for infoming us.

Photonut thank you for pulling Ryans last post. It was eloquent to say the least and unsettling that he knew some of my pain. You can run, you can try to hide and you can fight......

My prayers are with his family.

I did not know Ryan, but I feel exactly the same way about his posts. I'm so sorry for his family and this untimely loss but I am certain that he is being welcomed with open arms in heaven. I thank God for his time here on LBT because it has touched so many.

I too am saddened by the loss of Ryan. What a special sensitive man he was. I feel so sad for Patty and am hoping she will still find some way to get the care she needs. I know Ryan was her life and she was his life. I'll be praying for the family. Teresa

Another quote from Ryan. This one is about a dog-friend. It applies to him as well.

Blessed are they who have found a friend to cherish evermore,

And it matters not if they walk about on two legs, or run about on four.

They all give love and loyalty, and courage for their part.

And passing leave behind them a trail of broken hearts.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
