I Looove My Sleeve! Its Soooooooo Understanding And Tolerant

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved Wednesday April 25th. My doctor releases us on the pureed phase.. The first few days i had no appetite and kind of FORCED myself to eat but now im starting to feel more like ME.. definitely STILL not ravishingly hungry bt i can at least smell food without feeling nauseous. Today was sunday dinner.. I ate a small piece of rotisserie chicken and a spoon of my GRANNY"S spaghetti.. Not much at all but enough to cure my cravings and GOD was it so good!! i thought oh geez its only a matter of time until im hurled over in pain but hours later NOT A PEEP out of my sleeve.. i even ate a small small PINCh the size of my index of sock it to me cake!!! I have been feeling better and better each day. Not puked ONCE!! and im just so greatful that things are going to well for me... i started my entire process pre op diet included at 275..went into surgery at 259 and i am now 248!!

Oh, you are lucky!! I have a picky, small sleeve that still to this day does not tolerate certain foods. :-) Congrats on having a well-behaved one and on your loss so far! Keep rocking it!

They were on my plan, as long as they were smushed totally. They told me anything I could get through a straw was puree--you might want to thin them with a bit of hot broth and make them a bit smushier, but yes.

i don't think chicken and spag are considered pureed be careful your sleeve is new you do not want to get a leak you are still healing

Anything can be pureed if you can blenderize it to a thin consistency. So the chicken can be pureed as well as the spaghetti, although that sure would be a lot of carbs so soon after surgery. I was sleeved on Mon 4/23 and will be on full liquids another week before puree phase. As we know though, surgeons are soooo different in what they require us to do or not do....... keep on workin' it!

It's best to follow the doc's orders by continuing to eat pureed food's. The reason for this is that the staple line has not healed yet and so if you eat solid foods it can cause a leak. And to me I don't want a leak. Yes you can puree anything with a blender. Hang in there, it will happen soon. ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
