New1 201 Posted April 29, 2012 Wondering if anyone else has a hard time with waiting 30-60 mins between meals and drinking? Since starting solid foods it is even harder because I find myself having to choose between the two and getting dehydrated. 1 MinaT reacted to this
AshleyIrene 8 Posted April 29, 2012 I have the same problem. It especially sucks when you eat peanuts or something dry and you can't drink anything afterwards. I never know what to choose. I guess it's just something to get used to but definitly one of the hardest things for me as of right now.
New1 201 Posted April 29, 2012 I'm trying to make an eating and drinking schedule and stick to it. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
Cherrybomb 54 Posted April 29, 2012 My surgeon's rules say we can have small sips with food. I have tried to drink more while eating, but it never works out so well. It makes me feel painfully full and feel like I have to burp. 1 oneproudpappa reacted to this
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted April 29, 2012 It was extremely hard for me at first. Now it's a piece of cake. I don't always make the 30 minute mark, more like 20 minutes, but it's never bothered me before. I just do it now and I have never had any trouble throwing up. 1 oneproudpappa reacted to this
mesaucedo 207 Posted April 29, 2012 I often take small sips and seem fine. Sometimes I forget and drink quite a bit but have never had a bad reaction to it, like being full or getting sick. I thought it was there to not flush food out.
NancyJerry 139 Posted April 29, 2012 I've been wondering about that. I'm still on very liquid-like foods so I haven't run into this type of problem yet. Good post. 1 New1 reacted to this
yoshikitty 8 Posted April 29, 2012 I think it also has the goal in mind to make you feel fuller longer otherwise the liquid helps slide the solid food through faster than it normally would. I guess doing the two together can also cause a false sense of fullness or vice versa. 1 MinaT reacted to this
MeMeMEEE 206 Posted April 29, 2012 My programs rules are 15 mins before, 30 mins after. I complained about this in the beginning to my NUT - she said it was ok to sip if needed to wash things down or if you are dry. I try not to but if I need to, I do it. 1 MinaT reacted to this
E-girl 98 Posted April 29, 2012 Because I had a hard time getting my Water in, I am allowed to drink until the point of eating but I have to waite 30 minute after eating but I am more on the 10 mins before and 20 mins after plan and I have not had any problems. I also sip a little with my meals because I have meds that have to take with food. I have not had any problems. 1 oneproudpappa reacted to this
oneproudpappa 19 Posted April 29, 2012 I have lost 60lbs in almost 8 weeks. My surgeon told me to keep a cup of Water in my hands or on my side at all times and sip sip sip. It really helps if you have a cup full right by you. You will drink much more. 1 New1 reacted to this
