Have Any Of You Eaten Solid Food Before You Were Supposed To?

Recommended Posts

I am actually beginning to wish leaks on people. This foolish behavior deserves consequences. Maybe not as bad as a life threatening leak, but something...I suppose I can be happy knowing that if they are so silly as to push their program directly after surgery, despite the horrific medical consequences they could face, I should be at least happy knowing they weren't committed enough and they will likely be back in two years whining about their weight gains.

Really, you ripped out most of your stomach and now you want to see if you can pop the dang thing because you feel you are immune to consequences. Smart...very smart!

Don't you think you are rude. Yes people know you had a leak. Everyone knows. But to wish it on someone. I think you need to take tiime away from this board. This is a support system. People ask questions just to ask for opions. Yet, you think it is okay to type you wish people can have leaks. You are rude. You could actually used your story to help people, but yet you wish people to have the same problem has you. Proudgrammy tells people how it is but she is nice about it. And it comes along way.

Read past line one darling. I did say "not as bad as a life threatening leak" in the third sentence. Just concentrate and you'll see it there....

Don't be concondescending. I read the whole thing a couple of times. Your first line "I am actually beginning to wish leaks on people." Do you think posting like this will help anyone? Your story could change peoples life. Yet, you post things like this. I don't understand. Leaks are awful, dangerous, and sad. But you are doing better now! Change the way you are and help people!

It is entirely because of Iggy's story that I followed my conservative surgeon's rule. I was liquids only for 3 weeks, and then even when I could start soft foods, I didn't as my fridge and pantry weren't prepped yet. I'm 4 weeks out and still crushing pills to a powder, taking no chances. Although I have unexplained pain for the last week, I know in my heart of hearts it wasn't for lack of following instructions, EXCEPT maybe I did bend or twist a wrong way. So not only follow surgeons diet, but don't take for granted your activity level either.

Evil evil evil, no matter what you say after... Careful, what you are doing is worse than eating solids... All that bitterness and hate inside cant be good for your sleeve.

I just read some of your posts and I feel bad for you. Maybe I can understand a bit better why the anger, but there are ways to say things. Last, remember that life is very ironic and sometimes what we wish to others come back to us.

I truly wish you the best. And I'm sorry for all that happened to you

I'm glad that my horrible bitter life helped you out dear :) Really I am. I wish I'd have read more of the black side of the sleeve surgery prior to my operation so I'd have been more prepared when something did go wrong. But it was all roses and sunshine.

You are so right about the activity level issue. So many people go back home to laundry, babies, hauling in the holiday stuff, etc and forget that those can hurt you just as much as food can when you are not supposed to be eating it.

I hope that pain goes away soon :( If it does not, or it gets worse, get back in for some care. No one deserves to feel pain all the time!

Heh heh, you wish that what I said will come back to me, but you wish me the best and you're sorry about it all...did you learn that twisted talk from Rush?

Here's the thing. I said I almost...then said that really no one deserves that but there should be consequences for the stupidity because that stupidity leads these people on to post "I hate a Big Mac and was fine" "I drank a gallon of whiskey and was fine" etc. This leads others down a dangerous path that they clearly don't understand!

Standing by and watching them do this is frustrating. I actually hate every time I read a story about someone suffering complications though most of those are posted by people who were compliant because the ones who bring it on themselves tend to disappear quickly. But even for those fools I don't wish the pain and suffering of a leak on, but a good scare into sanity would be nice.

I'm actually a very happy person and enjoy life to the fullest. I've been blessed with a wonderful family and friends who bring me joy daily. So have no fears, I'm just fine :) But maybe I should ignore these threads and just expect to see more about leaks in the future? That might be a good idea.

I see, this is the twisted talk from Rush you mentioned before lol

Learn to read... I, unlike you, didn't wish you any harm but reminded u of the ironies of life when you wish it upon others. Very different my dear.

I believe you, after all you know yourself better than any of us. I just can't imagine if this is you at your happiest, how are you then at your most bitter hateful moments. Ouch.

Can we put this one to rest please. It is understandable that someone that has been through the hell Dawn (Iggy) has, due to a leak, would be more sensitive to potential leak causing activities.

I do agree though that "wishing a leak" on someone is a bit harsh, but is very uncharacteristic of Iggy. I'll say, whenever someone seeks advice in those situations, she is almost always one of the first to respond.

I think this boils down to a bit of frustration meeting a bit of sensitivity.

OK how about I go back and edit? I will entirely admit to a great deal of frustration being involved in that first post! I hate to see people take themselves down a dangerous path and even more hate to see others encourage it! That does not make me a ****** :) Just someone who is tired of seeing others play Russian roulette with a bunch of willing supporters!

And for the record, I wasn't wishing an actual leak but obviously that didn't come across through the second line, so I'll just kill the first.

If only people knew the suffering of others and the pain and heartache they have endured.

If you don't like reading it here on the boards from survivors then ask your surgeon.

Your Dr. knows what can happen, ask him if what he tells you should be followed...

I assure you he knows of patients who are no longer alive to speak up and try and help.

I believe no matter how it is worded...it is to help save anyone from complications or even deadly consequence.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
