How are you?

Hello --- it has not gone well at this point! I am back in the hospital for the third time sine my May 15 date. Many complications ..... Did not have as much stomach removed as a normal sleeve would. They left me with 35 % of my stomach... Not the usual 20%. Had hernia repaired, some growths on the spleen also. No cancer found. Yea for that ! God has blessed me.

Now it turns out that where my esphosgas and stomach meet there there is a twist in the esphosgas. Since the surgery I have not been able to keep liquid down. Been dehydrated and vomit daily. Since surgery I have gained 8.4 lbs to date. They claim due to the iv's......not sure I buy it all.

Tomorrow I will have another endoscope to see if they can stint the area, if not I will have a stomach pacemaker installed to regulate the stomach muscle electrically.

I have not given up ...... I just want to get better and lose the weight I set out to do. This was supposed to be the icing in the cake for me. I lost 87 lbs on my own so I was 200 before surgery ...then after liquid and Protein diet for 1 week had surgery at 191 today I weighted in at 198.4, and still growing.

This is not how it should have gone.... But I believe this also will pass and I will be able to share my success story soon.

Please keep in touch.

Thanks, Buffy

So how is everyone doing since the surgery

I'm doing great since my surgery 5/21 - was back to work on Monday after 2 weeks off, and other than being tired, it's not bad at all. No pain, I have to remind myself not to do too much in the way of lifting/abs stuff. I'm having a hard time finding time to work out along with working, though! I'm absolutely NOT a morning person and am so far not willing to get up any earlier than the absolute last moment before I need to get to work. It takes me a lot longer to eat (well, drink) my Breakfast than it would before, so I still need to get up somewhat earlier.

I also LOVE Sharon's FB group for us May sleevers. The only bad thing about it is that it's so much easier to work with than this forum, that I tend to only interface there, and I'm not spending time with the wider VST group very much, if at all. It's valuable to have a group that's narrowly focused to us folks at the same approximate time interval in the surgery, but there's such a wealth of information from all the longer timers on here, and we can also help encourage those who haven't yet had surgery. I need to make a point of getting on here every once in a while!

I am doing fantastic. Have lost 18 lbs since surgery 3 weeks ago. Snoring is gone. Feeling great and doc says we can possibly start lowering my BP med dosages here in a week or so!!!! I started the process at 258. I am at 222 today. Hubby is changing on me. He is flirty as he&!!! Taking me to dinner with friends tonight so he can show his good friend his "new wife"...can't imagine how he is gonna behave when I get thinner....

That is awesome

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
