Recommended Posts

Is everyone able to eat their whole meal during their lunch time? I only get 30 mins for lunch and ive read that some people take up to an hour! My surgery is in a month and im sooo stressed about this whole eating issue... No more than 2 oz of Water in a 15 min period, an hour to eat a cup of food, no drinking with ur food ect. Geeeez im starting to wonder if I can do this and will I be happy living like this? Post sleevers please help me with this!

I have been back to work 2 weeks and I sip Protein Drinks in between Breakfast and lunch and dinner. Remember you will be eating like 2oz of Protein and a half hour will b fine, then wait your time and start sipping liquids.< /p>

I eat 4oz meals (1/2 cup) and I get them finished within a half an hour usually. You'll be fine.

I just came back to work about 18 days post op. I can sometimes eat half of my meal at lunch then eat the rest at my desk. Sometimes I'll start it during my morning break and finish at lunch. I find sometimes I'm just not hungry so that's a challenge. I usually have less than 1/2 cup of chicken salad and sugar free pudding or just chicken salad depending on how much I want to eat. You'll be ok, it's a bit hard at first but you adjust due to having to form a new habit.

Its hard at first but youll find your own way to make it work for you. i get 30 min lunch also and it takes me 15 to 20 min. to eat about 2/3 cup of food and that depends on what im eating. 1 cup sounds like a bit much to me and im 7 months post-op. And with the Water slowly but surely you will be able to take regular drinks. I feel if I took an hour to eat I would be eating much more than i should be. I also use baby bowls to pack my lunch in and every meal for that matter so i always know how much im eating which makes it much easier for me. Don't worry and don't get discouraged its easier than you think and you wont regret it. GOOD LUCK!!!

I had my first day back to work yesterday, I just took Soup. It worked out pretty well. I bought the healthy choice Protein Soups, I'll eat the meat and leave the Pasta at the bottom.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
