Hang in there!! My surgery is April 30th and also on liquid diet. Fortunately I did not have to do it for long; just started it yesterday. I made sure I was drinking all day and actually got in more than 64 ounces. I was fine until dinner time then it was time to pull out the wonton Soup broth and jello! I didn't realize I could have cottage cheese at this stage. I thought Clear Liquids, I'm so confused.

DONT GIVE UP! You have worked so hard just to get to this stage, you can do it!! Your goal is to make it to lunch then treat with a popsicle then make it to dinner--- pretty soon you will be there.

Hang in there, neev, you're almost there! The diet is designed to shrink your liver and improve the visualization for your surgeon. It also minimizes the chances of him/her nicking the liver. So you really need to follow the guidelines as closely as possible.

You can do it. The first 3 days are the worse. Like was mentioned before it's to shrink your liver, but also to prepair you for the way you will be eating for now on. Lots of liquids, lots of Protein. I went 2 weeks. It got easier. Hang on. It's worth in when you're sleeved and the hunger is gone.

I know it's a harsh. But the less sugar and carbs you intake, the better. Drink drink drink. Jello, sugar free popsicles, crystal light. All you want. I was scared to eat anything else. I thought it would keep my liver fat. And I had Easter candy all over the house lol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
