All I can say is that it gets a little bit better every day. The first week is by far the hardest. Your body is in shock, recovering, coming off pain meds, the CO2 - it's overwhelming. Just be focused on liquids and what Protein you can get in right now, walk when you can, take long showers, sleep, just take care of you. The week will be gone before you know it and your energy will start coming back in the second week. I broke down around day 7-8, if it happens to you, just let it happen and then move on. By the end of the second week you're feeling so much more like yourself and things like applesauce will happen. A few more weeks of getting full really fast and some incision sensitivity, and by the end of the first month you'll feel quite normal.

Congratulations! You're on the best journey of your LIFE!

for me the end of the 3 weeks post op I started to feel almost 100%. I would have to say energy wise I am still not there and I am almost 7 weeks out. I find I have to eat at least 5 small "meals" a day to keep my energy up.

I felt semi-normal on day 6, and a lot better by two weeks post op. I am now 7 weeks post op and I feel great. You'll get there! Try to relax and not to speed things along. Stay the course!

I was miserable the first few days, then followed by a couple of weeks of low energy and generally not up to sorts. The third week was a major turnaround and now, at 4 weeks post op, I can truthfully say that I really feel great. And by great, I mean better than I have in years! Get through the first couple of weeks and then it's all a breeze after that as long as you stick with your nutrition / Fluid intake plan.

About week 4 I started to feel "normal" again. Still kinda tired through week 6 when I tried to act "normal" but now at week 8 all is well! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
