Bulking/cutting For... Surgery?

Recommended Posts

Hey Lissa, thanks for the tip!

I'm limited by the amount of reps I can do.in one minute. Keeping proper form and enough speed, I can usually do 25-30 reps in a minute. Circuit training revolves around rotating exercises every minute with no pause and break. For example, I do a minute of bicep curls, minute of cardio, minute of lateral presses, minute of cardio etc. The entire "circuit" takes me 23 minutes and I do 2 of those.

So I can't really increase reps, but I can increase weight which is what I've been doing. And considering I do 2 circuits, I do about 50-60 reps total. 25-30 of them are continuous.

As far as diet is concerned, I know I should cut out the bread completely, but if I do, I feel starved until lunch. The bread kinda helps to curb the hunger. Maybe I can eliminate one slice and see how that goes.

Even pre-sleeve, I found that bread actually made me hungrier. Now, it just overfills me and makes it hard for me to drink Water after a meal, even waiting 30 minutes. I'd add a piece of sausage instead of the bread... it's tastier, too. :)

The last time I circuit trained was at Curves, and it sucked, IMO. However, you have to do what you have available to you. Have you tried leaving the weight the same and increasing the amount of reps in a minute? I don't know if that's even possible, just thinking out loud. :)

Good luck! You're going to do great with your sleeve! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
