What types of What ifs?

What if the recovery is worse than with my band? What if it doesn't work, just like the band? They're small things that I know the answer to, but the control freak in me doesn't like them!

Well I've never been banded but I do know with the support of everyone here we will do great with the sleeve I'm definitely trying to stay optimistic

Dr didn't have me on a liquid pre-op diet, but been on shakes/small amounts off food for 4 weeks now.

I start the liquid diet on monday (tomorrow) and then surgery tues morning.

I just went grocery shopping today to pick up the necessities for the first two weeks.

I got Jello, popsicles, Water, crystal light, broth, Soups, yogurt, some small measuring cups (like the 1-8 oz kind so I can keep up with how much I drink).

I couldn't do the whey Protein (made me gag just to smell it). I was able to find the rice Protein and it doesn't have near as bad of a flavor.

I got the chewable Iron, tylenol gel caps, immodium, mylicon, Multivitamin chewable, Calcium citrate chewable, B-12 sublingual, and chewable Iron (which was hard to find... finally got it at the Vitamin Shoppe).

I picked up my prescripts for the nausea med and the prilosec meds (dr. gave me a script for the first 7 days)

I'm getting my bag packed, laptop, book, comfy clothes, flip flops, robe, etc.

Hope this helps those who are getting prepared!!

I'll keep you updated!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
