Got Approved-Got My Surgery Date- And Than...another Set Back!

Recommended Posts

I'm new here, but didnt have any other place to vent my frustrations.

So, I have been going back and forth since August to have surgery, I have done all my dietician appts, psych eval, sleep study, etc...Finished in January- and than my doctor at that time tells me- "he is no longer in my network and my insurance wont approve"..so I had to switch doctors, and this new doctor requested additonal testing..Soo...I take a stress test with him...finally get everything submitted to my insurance, got my APPROVAL in 5 days, get a surgery date of June 18th! And than the nurse calls.....she states my stress test came back abnormal and they can not continue with my surgery until I have more testing and get cleared by a cardiologist. Is this a sign saying I shouldnt have the surgery?? My approval is good for 6 months, so I'm praying everything gets cleared up before my approval expires.

I have had MANY things bad happen to me since I got approval...things trying to get in the way of me having surgery. I get frustrated at first. But then I remember that when we are trying to change our lives for the better, the devil always tries to come and steal our joy. I don't know if you are a spiritual person or not but don't let this road block get in your way...its a small one...move it!!

Don't think of it as a sign you shouldn't have surgery. I was self pay and hit a few road bumps due to a history of melanoma. As frustrated as I was it delayed me over a month, my surgeon was looking out for my best interest. Your surgeon wants to be sure you will come out of surgery with no complications! Keep on and everything will work out!

I have not told anyone about the abnormal stress test, and that I have to see a cardiologist- becasue I know my family will just continue to worry and discourage me from having the surgery.

I had a heart attack years ago and had coronary stents put in a few years ago. My cardiologist is the one who suggested that I go for weight loss surgery. I have one last supervised visit left on the six month diet in the beginning of May and then everything goes to the insurance company. The surgeon is the one requiring the cardiologist clearance. Whatever it takes to get the surgery done I will do. Good luck with your journey.

Everything will happen the way it's supposed to, when it's supposed to.. Try to relax, get your appointments in quickly and most importantly RELAX!! LOL... I know i said that first, but it's important... You are making a great decision and obstacles can either reinforce the need for surgery or cause you to stop and not do anything... Going through the whole process that you have shows that you want this and need it.. It WILL happen!!!

I believe you will be fine and everything will work out.. just chill out and enjoy the ride..
