I can't lie I'm n a lot of pain. The first two days it was excruciating gas pains now it's extreme soreness. Now it seems like I have to cough every five minutes n that's painful as hell. I'm having a hard time getting any Protein in cause it all tastes gross. I'm not doing to bad with the Water though. Still not up to 64 ounces yet though but constantly sipping. Please tell me this pain will pass soon. It's so bad.

I am sorry you are in so much pain and yes, it does pass. I didnt get the gas ( thank goodness) but just get up and walk as much as you can, they say that helps with the gas. As far as pain, what did they give you for that? Take it if you need it, dont feel you shouldnt, that is what it is for. As far as the Protein, I wouldnt worry about it yet, just get your Water in. Keep trying every day to get the protein in, it is hard but it does get easier, I promise. Keep us posted. Hugs to you! :D

Tylenol with codeine. It takes the edge off a little but doesn't knock it out all together. Thanks for the well wishes though.

My doctor told me the same day of surgery that the first week may be hard but get the liquids in and TRY to get your Proteins if you can. If you can't, then we can tackle that the next week. After the 2nd day, it has been relatively easy to get the proteins in. As for gas, WALK, WALK, WALK!!!!! I hope this helps. I am one week post-op :-D

The third day is a major turning point pain-wise. Don't be a hero, take your pain meds and, like shortypants said, stay ahead of the pain. Hang in there, it'll get better very soon.

Walk and walk. I figured out fast had to sip instead of drink if not the pain would hit me. I was taking too big of drinks. Slow to sips and walk. Also sitting up when you drink helped me. Also warm the liquid in your mouth before you swallow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
