Last year at this time I was recovering from surgery, it was the best decision I have ever made for my self. I have been lucky and have not had any problems along the way but it is still a challenge everyday to not fall back in to old habbits. Anybody who says this is the easy way out has no idea that it is not easy you have to stay with it and follow the the program of diet and exercise. That being said we are all human and slip ups happen I have had my fair share of them for sure!

The one thing I wish some one had told me before hand was not to get so obsessed over the number on the scale. I look at pictures of myself and realize that I have not been this small since high school yet there are days I get on the scale and it says something totally different. I am now more focused on my BMI and not what the scale says.

I started at a BMI of 42.2 and now it is a nice even 27, my weight was 262 and I am now down to 177! I still have about 15 to 20 pounds to my goal and for some reason the last few months they just dont want to go away but I am determined to get them gone and with time I am postivie they will vansih forever just like the last 85 pounds have :)

I want to thank everyone here for all the support and advice that I have recieved during my journey this last year and may you all the the sucess that I have had :)

Advice for people who have not had surgery yet would be :

1. Don't ocmpare yourself to others!! You are your own person and your body will do its own thing when it wants to. There were serveral times I would get down on my self because I would see that somebody who had surgery around the same time I did had lost more weight then I had. What took me a long to time to realize is that that person may have been heavier or lighter than I had been or that they may have had complications or who knows what. You will lose but at your own pace :)

2. Take pictures of before and also take measurments!! I wish I had taken measurments so I knew how many inches I had lost all I have is pictues and what the scale said.

3. Dont be a scale *****!! While knowing your weight is great getting on the scale 15 times a day will just make you frustrated casue your weight can fluxuate during the day. After going through this for a month I finally picked a time once a week to weigh myself and stuck with it.

And finally don't give up even when you hit a stall, it will be hard but you can do it!

I think the scales drive ppl crazy. I was at a dr office yesterday and that scale read 4 pounds higher than the scale at my NUT did today. I will be weighted tomorrow at my primary care doctor and expecting it to be totally off again. The only weight that I calling official is at my NUT since it is the same scale every time. I love it they use the Tanita Body Composition Analyzer

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
